amp reset?

anyone know how to reset an audiobahn a4801t amp? apparently the amp is stuck in PROT mode and won't get out of it, even when hooked directly to the battery with ONLY the remote, ground, and power hooked in. anyone have any ideas?

Have you left it alone for a while to cool down? It might be in thermal protection mode.

nah, i didnt screw with the amp to mess it up. apparently, according to the dumbasses at circuit city, if the battery gives off too little of a voltage to the amp, the amp would go into PROT mode to protect the subs.

i just need to know how to reset it.

and yes, i didnt check/replace all fuses.

wait, when my friend was hooking up my hu awhile back for my firs system, it gave out too much power to the amp which was an overload and it made it go into protect. so maybe it is getting too much voltage. are your speakers working though? befor the amp went into protect?

if it's getting too much power, the fuse will blow (taking into consideration the fuse was the right size). how much power is the amp seeing at the end of the power cable?

i think it was getting anywhere from 12 to 14. the fuses were all ok. i have it hooked to the BOSE system (you know, splice rear speakers, yada yada) and everything else is working perfectly as it should, minus the amp.

i know its not a BOSE thing because my friend, who has some incredible setup in his max has an after market hu and his amp went in PROT after like, 2 years of working fine, so i dont know.

bose has nothing to do with it thats the rca, whay you have problems with is power. try better grounds? check the remote wire is secured. make sure the power wire isnt touching the amp just on the terminal. and again check grounds.

I know BOSE doesn't matter, I was just letting you guys know. I had the amp hooked up to just the battery (power to pos, ground to neg, and remote to pos.) and the problem still occurred.

So this supports the theory that the amp is the problem, not any of the wiring.
