99 SE alternator vs. amplifiers
Hey all...
Just got a RF 800 watt amp and also RF 400 watt amp for my 99 Max SE. Going to put in some subs and wanted extra power for my 6&1/2" too. I also got 2 capacitors... 1 farad each.
So my question is how long before I kill my alternator and battery? Nissan dealer says they don't have anything by way of upgrades for the alternator.
What have you guys found that works for keeping some amps going without killing your rides? Suggestions for upgrading or installing an extra battery?

Thats fine, I'm running a 1500 and 400 watt amp, original alternator and pretty much OEM type battery with no capacitor and my lights barely dim... Your not running enough power to need an upgraded alternator.
You could always just get a heavier duty battery like an Optima red or yellow top.

once the engine is running, the power feeding the amp comes mostly/all from the alternator, doesn't it? In which case a better alternator would be apprpriate, especially if lights dim(not good). Someone correct me if im wrong.

well in my experiences, it takes A LOT to dim headlights in a max. at least 5k watts. and that was very slight. of course this was a 2001, so im not realy sure, but i think you should be ok
