Maxima Front Speakers
Can someone who has swapped out there original speakers please help me . I went to swap out the front speakers yesterday, (non-bose 2000 se). I found out that the stock speakers have a huge baffle?? or something built in to them. Is there a piece that I can buy somewhere or am I going to have to manufacture my own?? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've got new speakers. I tried replacing the stock ones and my aftermarket speakers hit the window. The stock speakers don't mount flush to the door, they are raised an inch or two out from the door. My aftermarket speakers mount flush to the door with the magnet and housing recessing in toward the window. So much so that they actually hit the window when the window is all the way down. The only things I have come up with are to 1) Cut up the old speakers ane somehow try to reuse the stock mounting hardware. 2) Manufacture some out of MDF from scratch. or 3) Buy some mounting hardware if there is any available.
Attention all 5th gen owners please help!!;
I'm guessing I'm not the first to run into this problem, somebody has had to run into this issue before.

This is good to know as I will be installing an entire system including the front speakers in my sister's 2000 SE (non-Bose). She bought the speakers and the HU from Crutchfield, so if adapters are needed hopefully they sent some out with the speakers.

Let me know if Crutchfield's does send you some sort of mounting hardware with the speakers. I might break down and just buy a new set of components. I'm Still trying to find time to make some, It's hard with work, college, and 2 kids. Oh well, I'm just venting. Let me know.
Thanks.

Actually she already received the speakers and the receiver she bought from them. I checked the all of the components she bought just can't remember if there were adapters there or not. I will check to see during the week. I am pretty sure that if they are needed they will ship them. I've always had good experiences with Crutchfield.
I had 5 1/4's in the front for a few years until I finally put in my new but older Polk DB's (the much older DB's not what Polk has now) in there last year, and those fit perfectly.. I used some sort of very hard and thick black cardboard type of material for the baffle as they would not have fit otherwise. My friend had some left over from redoing some of his interior and I tried it and it worked.
