I have the viper 791 installed on my 05 max and its the best thing ever, as far as recomending it DEI makes viper cliffor directed etc so it really is the same quality product. Also it just a lil getting used to as far as the car goes because in order for it to heat up in the morning i have to make sure its the setting i had the night b4 because the auto setting sucks

Anything DEI is all you need to look at when buying car security, everything else is garbage. Yes, the 791 is very nice...if you dont need the two-way pager, the 560xv is also very nice.

and it doesn't have the dipole responder antenna and the range sucks. and the brain is slow to send signals to the remote, unlike the 791 which is instant.

I've had my 791 on the 2k2 for about 1/2 year and its great! You just have to buy rechargeable AAA batteries if you want to save money.

Only problems I've come across is that the remotes don't like cold weather. When it gets really really cold in Toronto, Canada, and I hold the remote out for a minute or so the screen blurrs and the remote doesn't function right.

Another thing is that the kit only comes with 1 remote. And a 2nd remote costs $70-80US on ebay.

Theres nothing extra to be 'installed' , just two additional wires to be connected.

Too bad no warranty...the remotes tend to have issues.

Would anyone reccomend putting in a hidden extra battery for the system? incase sumone knocks off your battery post...

Also how many windows does it have shock sensors on? all 6 major ones?

Is there a sensor that can be added to the trunk?

Is there a trunk pop feature you can add to the remote? I'd love to disable my interior trunk poper can have the only way to open it, is with the remote...(i have no keyhole thats to cf)

Is there a sensor that senses the car behing tilted past a certain amount...like if someone starts to jack up your car or tow it for instance...

i'v looked briefly online and didn't find the answers...figured you guys with it could answer these the best...

Yes a backup battery or backup battery siren can be used.

Theres one shock sensor with the alarm. It covers the car, not specific parts. Glass sensors are another option which will still be only one, but I usually try to persuade customers Not to get as to avoid alot of false alarms.

Yes trunk release is possible, just an additional relay to connect it.

Yes digital tilt as well as mercury swicthes are also available.

Probably a stupid question, but what if your batteries die...are you stuck there until you put it fresh batteries or can you disarm with the key? At work I've run into a few alarms that go off when unlocking with the key until you press the remote. This can be annoying and I would imagine extremely inconvenient if the batteries went out when you're out someplace.

Also, any recommendations for less serious (and less expensive) alarms...maybe non two way that would still offer pretty substantial theft protection (both of the car and things inside)?

Thanks in advance.

the 791 has a battery level indicator on the display, so you can always see how much your battery has left, also, if it needs replacing, the remote will beep and alert you that it's time to replace the battery.

You can ALWAYS get in and start your car without the remote. Just need to unlock manually and start the car. You will however have to disarm using the Valet button with the key in the ignition. Otherwise...youll Never be stranded.

You can also use the Avital/Valet 2-way which is AM based. Slower response time and a bit less range. Or a Clifford/Viper alarm-remote start, Non 2-way. All of the alarms have the same security features. Aside from two way of course.
