Have you ever tried using the StreetPilot series of Garmin GPS'es? They are VERY VERY slow. Route recalcs are dog slow, I'm talking 25-30 seconds of highway passing you before a recalc can be done, even on a 100-200 mile drive. I had a StreetPilot /// and got rid of it. They have new ones out that are not DVD based and probably are just as slow, even with rezoom features.
A DVD unit is MUCH faster, can't comment on Nissan's system, but I have an aftermarket DVD unit in my 4th Gen - Eclipse 2454. Route recalcs in 2-4 seconds.

In no way am I saying that "people would be stupid to pick up those features." I love bells and whistles. Hell, if I didn't I would be driving a Honda Civic. Many of those features depend on where you live. You're right, if it's a cold climate then the heated wheel would be useful. The folding side mirrors are cool, but the auto-dim doesn't do it for me. Now, the auto-dim rear-view mirror is great. 2-memory power seats are also cool.
HID's and NAV systems (in my opinion) can be had for a fraction of the price aftermarket. That's especially true with the NAV. I can get a SWEET Garmin GPS for $700, that's more user friendly than the factory NAV's AND that I can take with me on vacations or for use in other vehicles.

But as for the original post, I vote with the ones satisfied with the Maxima's packages. The DPP had exactly what I wanted, with the possible exception of the folding side mirrors, which I don't have any need for. And power lumbar is great if you have a back like mine, btw.
And I also agree that the auto-dimming outside mirrors are fantastic. The only car I've had with that was a Lexus RX300, and it was heaven. Now they have them on the '05's, and I'm jealous ...

1. Speed fixed - that's great.
2. Unit has a connection to your ECU speed sensor so when you lose that signal on cloudy nights, you can still have some idea of where you're going? Has an internal gyroscope to detect turns as well without a satellite?
Look, I'm not knocking the GARMINs, I have an eTrex that I use every week. If you can get the 2650 for $700, more power to you. However, I just feel that an indash unit that is also a headunit is so much more cleaner (forget Nissan - aftermarket). And just so you know, most of the aftermarket units store about 25 miles of pre-buffered map routes, so the spooling you speak of, never happens, its just the CPU figuring out the route recalc.
Moving it from car to car, you got me beat there.
