amp settings
i installed my amp and sub today and now its time to set the passes and gains. gains i can do using the 3/4 method, but how do i know what i set my high pass and low pass filters too. is there a nice website i can view to set this up. also...what do i exactly do to break in a sub. just relax on the sub for a while.

if you can, turn the high pass filter off. you shouldn't have any treble coming through your sub. i have my LPF set through my headunit at 80Hz, so that way anything above 80Hz will not enter my sub. if it's a dial, i'm not too sure how to set it. what kind of amp do you have?

You should run your crossover points as low as your front speakers can handle. I have my fronts highpassed at 65 Hz and my subs lowpassed at 70 Hz. This creates up-front bass, so your ears don't hear the mids and highs at the front of the car and the lows at the rear of the car- it all blends together at the front if you keep the midbass frequencies out of the subs.
I tune the system by shutting off the sub and running only the front speakers. I set the lowpass at around 50 or 60 Hz and then turn the volume up, using a bass-heavy CD. Once I determine the lowest frequency that the front mids can handle, I set the sub lowpass point at the same point, and maybe alter +/- 5 or 10 Hz to fine tune.
