I have the 9825 and love it, still getting used to all the settings, but its prolly the best deck I've ever had. I've heard good things about all the Alpines, I'm just not a big fan of the fold down faceplates. Thats just me though.

The 9835 is a really nice deck.
Very similar to the 9833 but the display is MUCH better. No annoying dancing "bling" lights, and the Biolite display is very crisp.
The price difference between the 9833 and 9835 is worth it, IMO.

I had the 7998 with the nice display, but eventually the search for better SQ led me to Eclipse.

$600? The 9855 will be the top of the line alpine when it comes out in a few weeks. Can you wait that long? It has a neat GlideTouch strip, works sort of like an ipod I hear.
For that money though, I'd probably take the advice above and look at a decent Eclipse.

Yeah, I was actually looking at the 9833 and other decks, but the 9825 had all the things I was looking for, plus I liked the look of it, not to mention it was on sale for $135 thats always a plus in my book. lol, but I mainly bought it for all the tweaks and the three preouts it had.

wait 135? shiet i wouldve bought it too!! i really needed the 4volt preoutputs and the 3rca preoutputs. Hey not bad for the price though! i mean the newer model hus like that are wayy much more than that one and they do the same shiet. good buy!

IMHO, I would get the 9833. Besides it having a black face as apposed to the 9835, It has 99% of the features of that unit as well. I would get and did get the 9833. Save the extra money and take the gf out to dinner. I love mine and as far as the dancing bling lights, you can turn them off, as I did.

I was looking at both the 9835 and the 9833 since I already have 2 Alpines in my car but one is the sound processor and that's probably going bye bye. Now I'm hearing all this stuff about Eclipse H/Us. I've known that Eclipse makes pretty good H/Us but was never sold on them. However reading all of this and also talking with 1996BlackMax, I may be going the Eclipse route.
Personally speaking though if I had to choose one I would probably go with the 9833.

I've used both and i have to say the only difference i really noticed is the display. If its worth it to you to pay the extra for that sick *** display on the 9835 then do it. Other than that its pretty much the same deck.

Very good deck but doesn't have anywhere near the options and features as the nicer ones.

I bought the 9851 about 2 days ago and i love it, i like the look and the motorized face plate is nice, and the tilt really sets it off in my 3ed gen, payed 250 , and dropped 40 on a four year warrenty cuz the dude said the motor for the face can break

If only they would have put better components inside, such as 24bit DAC's........
Even the 20bit Burr Browns in their older stuff would be a great addition.
Hey Durtty, I think that you are heading in the right direction .

Don't know anyone who would pay ~$500 for a HU to use the internal amp so maybe getting rid of the V-Drive to be more competitive price-wise was a smart move.

I have the CDA-9835 in my Max. My only complaint with it is the 16 character limit for the text lines when I am using the SIRIUS tuner. I understand that has been corrected in the 2005 model Alpines.

I have the CDA-9833 and love it. I had a Pioneer HU before the Alpine and the Alpine is so much nicer. When I bought it, it retailed for about $450, but I got it on Ebay for $280. I couldn't ask for much more in a head unit...well, except maybe an LCD.
