I've had 0 problems with my Audiovox 997 in the 2-3 years that I;ve had it. My dad has the Viper on his truck and the only real difference I noticed is the Viper has slightly better range. Compustar ftw if your looking for all out range though. I would say a safe bet is the DEI or Audiovox as both have lifetime warranties if Authorized so not much to lose.

 

On an overall the Audiovox severly outweighs DEIs on comebacks. Ive replaced literally Dozens of them.

There really is no difference in range anymore between the Responder based DEI systems and Compustar. Both use Spread Spectrum and both offer similiar range. Although DEI is more installer friendly, ALOT less bulky and has a smaller comeback rate with issues.

 

I have a Omega max-e which I bought of ebay for $150 shipped has worked flawless for almost 3 years. It has just about all features of this always recommended viper unit does (2 way, remote start, manual tranny ready, add-on's, etc.)

I installed it myself so I saved a crap load of money which will most certainly override any lifetime warranty.

i just got a python 990 2 way pager alarm installed the other day and it works pretty good. it's the 1 mile range one that just came out supposedly. got it for $450 installed plus removal of my old alarm. so far it works when i'm like 6 blocks away from my car. but when i'm in parked behind a department of water and power building my range wasn't as good o_O kinda weird but i like it so far

 

Which alarm would still allow me to have the down feature for my front windows?? Any idea if the rears can be added for auto-down as well? And...what about windows going up? Looking at a viper with auto start, 2 way lcd blah blah dont know the model #.
