buying a system in a few month

and i right now i have my stock maxima speakers non-bose..and a sony xplod headunit 25x4 watts. it makes the stock speakers sound good for what their worth, so i was thinking im not going to upgrade the speakers yet but just get a subwoofer..its going to be one 15"..not sure which yet but a 15" for sure...it will be a pretty medium sized box..i dont want a huge heavy box..i will try to buy this and have it ready to install in latest 2 months..are there any new 15" subs coming out that i should wait for? or go with an XXX or an avalanche? plus i want around 500 watts to it..and thats all

i just want some opinions and advice or things that i should or shouldn't buy/do..btw one of my concerns is that i have a stock battery in my car and wouldn't a 15" sub drain a lot of power from it?

thanks so much guys

Memphis offers their M-Class 15" 200 watts RMS 400 peak. Or you can get their M3 series. It sits a little better in the 500 watt range.

I'm not sure if 500 watts would push the avalanche or XXX. And as long as you keep your amp in the 500 watt range, you're battery and alternator should hold out fine. But I would recommend a Optima down the road though.

there's no way 500watts is going to cut it on an XXX, a better choice would be the SE series with 500watts.

500 would work well with any Soundsplinter sub as well

500 should get an avalance or the xxx decently loud. slickrick is sending about 600 to his ava 15", and from what he's been telling me, it's loud enough. i'm not sending 500 to my brahma, and it still gets stupid loud. the enclosure also play a large role on how a sub will sound, not just by sending gobs of power to it.

so an XXX will do fine with 500 watts? not too little?

in the right enclosure, it will be descent, but still underpowered by another 500w or so.

^^ what he said. it'll work fine with 500 watts, but it's a wee bit underpowered. the enclosure also affects power handling.

i feel like this same ? has been asked 100 different ways by the same guy. anyway, 500 watts is not worth it for an XXX 15 unless you put it in like a 7cuft ported box. 500 watts is enough for a SS, AA, or adire aub.
