No, now that I have finished the job, I can say that the ratchet method worked exceptionally, so long as you put most of your weight on the top of it.

Also, if you were dumb enough to round off a screw and still can't get it out (like me), you can still help yourself out. Take out the AC control and rotate the bracket as far as it will go in each direction a few times. This should loosen the screw enough to get it out.

My biggest regret was sitting around and waiting for the batteries in my drill motor to change. Even my nice Botch didn't have anywhere near the torque needed to get the job done.

+1 to impact driver thats how I removed mine. One hit then screw away.
