need your diagnosis

I'm hearing sound from both left and right speakers despite just hooking up one rca cable. Playing with the left and right balance button on my stock headunit has no effect and I can still hear sound from both speakers despite being dialed all the way either left or right. Is there a problem with my amp?

is it a 2 channel, or running off y-adapters, or a bridged 4 channel?
because with a correctly wired 4 channel the balance and fade should all work perfectly

it's a 2 channel amp. From the looks of it everything looks to be wired ok. The rca's connect to a david navone LOC. I also noticed when i use "my cd" to check for in phase and out of phase, the out of phase track creates silence. The two are probably related.

Okay... I was sitting here going "I know this one" And it just dawned on me. On your LOC... check the wiring. You could possibly have the a switched wire there. All it would require is to have the negative wires switched (FL+/FR-) (FR+/FL-) In this situation you're getting a mixed signal. So no matter which side you go to, even with one RCA hooked up, you'll get both sides of the signal.

So your running a 2 channel amp to 4 speakers. This is your problem in itself. Its probably running 2 speakers per channel, so depending on which preout it is hooked up to it will either be all front or all rear, so you wont be able to fade. Your balance will probably fade to all front or all rear, since technically your fronts are on the "left" channel and rears or on the "right" channel, or vise versa. Hope that makes sense cuz im posting at work and braindead
