powering up with another battery??
powering up with another battery??
ok i have a 2000 max and i have alot of electronics in it...: underground lites, neon rods, washer lites, foot pedals, subs, amp, screens... u get the idea...well i am always afraid of for aexample leaving my cds playing when im out somewhere with freinds when the car is off because i dont wnat the subs or anythign to drain the battery. is there anyway i can power up my 12 volt appliances or even if i direclty power up my soun system or screens or anything else i have directly to ANOTHER battery so it wont kill my original? i have NO idea if this is even possible or if there is any solution to use theset hings without killin the battery but ANY help or suggestions/tips would be good. oh ya ive heard that i can just buy a voltmeter and check if my battereies about to die and turn on the car before it does but i was wondering if there was any OTHER way ...i would think there was but ya any help would be good thanks
I have seen a battery monitor which disconnects the battery if it gets too low. The idea for these mainly came for people who left their cars at the airport. This way when they got back, their car would still have enough power to start.
Forgot where I saw it, or what company made it. That was during my traveling days.

I have a Red Top Optima under the hood, and a Yellow Top n the trunk. I've ran a fused 0/1ga wire b/t the 2 batteries, with a battery isolator wired close to the trunk. The isolator keeps the batteries from draining each other. I run 2 amps off of the battery n the trunk...1 JL Audio 450/4 (150x2 & 75x2) and 1 RF Power 20001bd (1500x1 @ 2ohms) or (2265 @ 1ohm...according to the birth sheet). I love having a 2 battery setup!
+1 tp Wils95se, the only setup Ive installed like this is Stinger yellow top, and Stinger's 200 AMP high current relay, which functions as the battery isolator.
I say if your all stock right now, start with a yellow top under your hood and see how that works.
