No display Bose HU

Has anyone fixed the 'no-display' on their 95-96 Bose headunit? If so, I need some help. Where did you purchase the resistors? At radio shack, they have different resistors. I cant think of any other electronics store that might have 1. And also, how do you pry out the resistor without damaging the circuit board? I imagine I could try to desolder it, but I'm afraid the heat from the soldering iron might damage the circuit board.

I bought a new stereo on ebay for $100and sent the old one to these guys and they gave me $50 for it. I wasn't about to try and solder on that circuit board. I think $50 is reasonable not to have the risk damaging the stereo more.

I already have the replacement parts. I decided not to go the resistor route, and just purchased a new display unit. Problem now is, I need to unsolder some of the pins. How can i go about this? does anyone have experience working on circuit boards?

Sometimes when playing CDs my display does not come on when I start the vehicle and all I have to do is change track or power it off and back on. Every now and then the HU will not show the song time and the track number doesn't change. In both cases the audio is working as it should. Is this the HU going out?
