Police Detectors??

when I was a kid I remmeber my uncle (RIP) he had a little radio that when ever a police car is near you where able to hear them from a center mile.

can anyone help me get one of those because everytime i searh all I get is police radars so you could scramble the gun.

they are all garbage, imo by the time is detects the cop already has spotted you.

Umm no, a radar detector picks up the radar waves that are reflecting off of nearby objects long before you see the cop car

I think he meant a scanner, not a radar detector...

Yep, scanner, sometimes called 'police scanner'.

They're pretty common and easy to get, radio shack sells a nice handheld one I'm going to get in the next few weeks...make sure you get a trunking scanner though, or you won't (easily) be able to follow their conversations.
