Sub magnet screwed up my camera?

is this possible? i just recieved my Eclipse Titanium in the mail today (thanks Red!, ill leave you good feedback tomarrow), and it was so mighty looking i decided to take a picture of it for shyts n' giggles.

Anyways, earlier today, my cannon digital camera was working perfectly, never had a problem, ever. Now, its all screwed up.. the display doesnt light up, the zoom-thing wont go back in, it doesn't turn on, and this all happened instantly. Then i remembered that there was a giant magnet sitting on my desk, right next to me where i was fiddling with my camera. crap. i think i myself. or maybe its just a coinsidence? i know magnets screw up monitors/tvs and stuff.

eh, battery on full charge? the magnet might have issues with the memory card but i don't see how it'll affect the servo motors controlling the lense.

That sucks. Hopefully it will decide to work again.

the canon powershot a70, i think, has a problem of the lense getting stuck when the batteries were too low for it to retract...

I remember reading somewhere that while a sub magnet can screw up disks and so on, you'd have to leave it practically right on the magnet for quite a while. Hope you fix your problem!

Is it possible that you have gotten debris such as a few grains of sand inside the lens mechanism of your camera? I have heard that this may cause a problem like you describe.
