Eclipse and iPOD

I need help, I have an AVN2454, I know its pretty old, but I can't really afford to purchase a new one immediately. I get frustrated with my unit cause it reads MP3s so slowly, so I try to use my iPOD, but I'm not a big believer of FM Transmitters, so I was looking for something permanent, for better sound. I was researching and found an adapter for Eclipse HUs. The only thing is that they only have limited capabilities with the older models. I was wondering if anyone had any kind of advice or the cheapest Eclipse AVN that will still have touch screen functionality for the iPOD adapter.
Thanks

It wont work unless you have the Sirius tuner as well.

Just use the AUX input.

So pretty much I'd be using the iPOD to control the music, but I'd still get the better quality than a transmitter out of it by using the adapter?

Is it worth purchasing a new unit?

But the sound quality seems to be pretty good.

I'd rather have something on the screen since I'm always using the Navi and MP3 function

If you use your Ipod using AUX in, you can have the audio playing while navi is on the screen.

edit: and you won't have to change screens when flipping through tracks, you do it through your Ipod.

I get what your saying, I hate flipping through the screen sometimes to access music, but its alot better than picking up the iPOD and scrolling through it when I have thousands of songs, and it makes me look down while i'm driving, so w/e
