5th gen amp and components install questions

I have a 2k1 non-Bose. I am going to keep the stock headunit but I am installing some Rainbow components in the front factory locations and they are going to be powered off a Diamond amp (D3400.4) that will be located under the front seat.

After looking through the FAQ's which are lots of dead links these days, I had a few questions.

1. Are there crossovers for the components? Where?
2. How do I remove the factory headunit so I can install amp wiring?
3. Can I utilize the factory wiring that's already run into the door and up to the tweeter? Meaning can I run speaker wire from the amp to the crossover in the kick panel, then use the factory wiring from the crossover to the speakers (since it is already run through the terrible door jam). Where can I find the factory wiring (mainly the wire for the midbass in the door?)

I was just going to take it to get it professionally installed, but the only good place is an hour from me and the timing just doesn't coincide with my work schedule (I'm sure the local bbuy or ccity could do it, but I don't like them touching my car). I'm also hoping to get it done before I head out of town for the long weekend.

Thanks for all your questions, and maybe Don would put this in FAQ if I get some really good answers as I'm sure there are others out there who would like to do something similar.

1.The crossovers are in the box, with the components. If you mean the factory components, the crossover for the tweeter is in line with the tweeter. It will look like a small bulge in the wire. No crossovers for the woofer.

2. Pop vents, take out screw in ashtray. Pop shifter trim. Remove two lower and 2 upper screws.

3. You will have to locate and tap into the wires going into the door, in the kickpanel. It is possible, and you will be fine by doing so.

Thanks so much for the help.

1 more question. Is the tweeter just connected to the same wire that runs to the midbass (wired in parallel?)? Where does it connect (I'm guessing at the kick panel, but want to make sure)?

They are wired in parallel and after the branch the tweeter wire has an inline crossover somewhere on it.

I have never actually traced the wire from the A pillar, but yes, I assume it is somewhere in the kickpanel or perhaps up in the dash. I do not suggest using the factory tweeter wire unless you can isolate and remove the inline crossover. But by the time you do that, you might as well just run new speaker wire from the kickpanel to your A-pillar.

yeah running a new wire for the tweeter is really easy. It's the wire through the door that is a pain. I'm running the components off deck power for a few days until I have neough time to install the amp (gotta get at least the speakers in before my little roadtrip).

Vegas baby! Vegas!

When I installed my components, I used the factory wiring in the doors so that I didn't have to run new wire through the kick panels and up through the doors. I just ran 14 guage speaker from the amp to the headunit harness and powered my speakers from there. Saves time fishing wires through everything. I also disconnected my facorty tweeters and removed the Bose sub from rear deck. (The open hole in the rear deck from the Bose sub acts like a port from my Kicker subs). No need to take it to a professional. Save your money and install it yourself. You'll feel good after your results. It's not really that hard if you take your time. Good luck!

I've already had it all apart, but then I saw the problem with going through the doors and not knowing about the crossover, so I figured $50 not to worry about it would be money well spent. But now that I know what's going on, I'll do it in like an hour and a half tonight.
