Bluetooth??

Hi all!

I just bought a 2004 SL last week. Just curious if there was any way to hook Bluetooth into the car, or something similiar... The dealership told me there was, but couldn't be anymore specific than that. Anyone heard?

our cars come with bluetooth capabilities.... your dealership doesn't know what they are doing if they couldn't install it for you.... talk to another dealership.... forgot how much it costs but it's only capatible with certain phones so allmost a waste of money..... I recommend using a bluetooth speaker setup you can buy at bestbuy or radio'sack....

Just looked up some pricing on BestBuy.com. Cheapest car kit starts at $370. Looks like I'm gonna keep using my hands free for that much!

The 2004's did not have Bluetooth (although they have the icons for it... ). Maybe we need to do swap mod, although it would be prohibatively expensive just for the (small) features that it would gain I'm sure.

yes they did.... you had to add it to your package when purchasing the car..... to get it installed is a rediculous amount of money I am not even willing to pay...... you could also get the garage door opener too.... capatible with garages I guess.... didn't get either and glad too.....

Yeah, if it is crazy expensive there is no way I'm going to do it. Here in North Carolina there is a proposal to ban cell phone usage while driving. The talk is that it is going to pass. They just last week made it a law that anyone under 18 can have their license revoked as well as pay penalties for talking on a cell phone while driving. Although an inconvenience for those of us who "rub our bellys and pat our heads" at the same time, I can understand it. The last several times I was almost hit were people talking on their cell phones.

I have a crappy, generic Verizon phone and was going to purchase one with Bluetooth if the car was compatible. It's definately not worth a huge expense.

Thanks!!

Mary,

First of all, Welcome to the Org and to the 6th generation family!

I couldn't help but notice your just a few hours from me. There is a meet in Raleigh on the 29th of July at Lake Jordan. Go under Regional Forums and check out the DC chat! We are going and I'd love to meet you!

I opted to not get the Bluetooth because of it's ridiculous price all of you have tapped on. Like you Mary, I use my hands-free! Or I let my girls take my calls for me.

Again, welcome to the Org.

I don't know if there will be an offense taken or if I am breaking any rules, (If so, forgive me), check out www.6thgenmaxima.org also.

Bluetooth

I'm using a Parrot bluetooth kit and love it. I paid $150 for the kit on ebay and installed it myself.

po8pimp, when you got your '04, bluetooth was available? That's the first I heard about that. I went through the brochure a thousand times before I got my '04 and bluetooth wasn't listed as a option. The LCD screen has the display for bluetooth, but I'm pretty sure that's the closest thing a '04 owner got to bluetooth.

I asked about it when I purchased my max and they told me the car I was getting didn't have that capability but I could purchase the module to allow me to get it and that was like 2grand or something extra..... It included the garage door opener package thing..... anyways that was outragious and I told em hell no..... but yea as far as I know it was unless they were talking out of their a**
