hey all... sorry if this is more of a "newbie" question. But I have a '00 SE with the factory (non-bose) stereo. The prob. is that when I turn up the volume, the speakers get very distorted. One place I went to said that I needed a new head unit because the speakers were underpowered. Then another place said I needed new speakers because my factory speakers suck. so which one is right? I'm trying not to spend too much money because I'm looking to buy the stillen body kit. thanks for any help

Dan

they're both right. OEM base-model stereos are notorious for sucking.

the only thing you can do is upgrade the entire thing, or turn the volume down. the cheapest thing to do is keep the volume down and live with it. it's NOT a booming system, it was never designed to be. if you try to treat it like one, it's goign to either blow up or sound like a$$.

just my $0.02.
