engine noise

alright so ive had this problem before with my subs but i just installed an amp for my speakers. rcas are ran on one side of the car and power and remote are on the other. i run my rcas to my sub amp and then another set of rcas from the sub amp to my speaker amp. musics coming out fine, but there is a crazy amount of engine whine. the only thing is that my amps are in the trunk so my speaker wires to the speakers are ran on the side of the car, one set running next to the power wire. could that be the problem? thanks

It's very possible that your problem is the speaker wire being ran next to the power wire. You want your rca and speaker wires as far away as possible from the power wires. You definately don't want to run either of them next to the power wire or you will probably get noise like your getting.

i have a 96 so i tried 2 ground sports, 1 where the blot connects the latch to the trunk release and one right under the inside of the tailight. still has noise, also, i unpluged the rcas from the amps and there was no noise. theres no noise also when i change stations or when i turn the volume all the way down, but it starts again at volume 1. the thing about the speaker wire is that the only one in contact with the power wire is the driver front side speaker wire, so i will relocate that one to the passenger side and run it down. thanks guys

check all your grounding points. if there's paint, sand it down to bare metal and reattach the ground(s). you can leave the speaker wire next to your power. i have all my wires ran down one side of the car without any noise issues.

There's plenty. If you unplugged the RCA's and the noise went away, then it's not your speaker wire, it's your RCA's, or something before the amp...could be the HU itself. What kind of RCA's are you using?

Where is your HU grounded? Have you tried various different grounds for it? What type of HU is it?

1)AC current will not induce noise to a DC run or vice versa.

2) Thats a myth. Nothing more, nothing less.

for some reason, when my key is in the ignition at the level closest before you take the key out theres no noise, but when i turn the key and the engine is still not on, the noise comes on and it stays on after i start the car.
