****ty bass

i just hooked up my brand new Pioneer DEH-5800MP after having a line level converter before, for my amp. so i hooked my rca's up to amp output on the HU and it sounds terrible! I have adjusted every audio setting and i have no idea why it sounds so bad. Anyone else have this problem or any solutions?

re-adjust the gains on the amp your input sensitivity is probably set too high, as well as bassboost.

I have the 4800MP and the subwoofer output polarity had to be reversed. It sounds terrible when set to normal. The easiest way to do this is to swap the rca cords at the amp.

The other way (which is the way I have it done) is to set it at the headunit. I don't know if the faceplates are the same but to change the polarity you hit the sw button and then hit the left or right button. It should show SUB W:REV or if it's already set to reverse change it to normal SUB W:NOR.

Does the 5800 have subwoofer control?

reversing/swapping RCAs doesnt change the polarity. An RCA has a postivie (signal) and a negative (shielding/grounding). If you swap left and right it has no effect on phasing.

Good to know. How about swapping the wires going to the sub?

Swapping the actual speaker wires is the only way.
