Amp Clipping

I just hooked up my amp to my stock headunit using an adjustable line output converter which i tapped from my rear speakers. Now the amp is clipping. I have stock speakers. I was getting ready to install my component speakers but figured i should address this issue before going any further. It doesnt matter what setting i set the amp to wether its flat,hp,lp mode it still clips. What should i do to get good signal and no clipping?

turn the gain (input sensitivity down), and double check your woofer wiring.

What he said. ^^^^ Let us know what you find. Oh, and turn the bass boost to -0 if the amp has this option, in addition to the above post.

Use a dmm and set your gain a little more safely

you probably have the gain on the line output converter and amp set too high. set with the gains on both and move up gradually.

i'd recommend learning how to use a multimeter to properly set the gains

Yeah, lower the input signal level of the amp.
