I recently acquired a Blaupunkt 5-disc in-dash cd changer that I would like to hook up to my Blaupunkt Alaska head unit. The receiver does not supply the changer with power, though, so I have to hook up the supplied adapter cord. I'm inexperienced (but not a complete moron as these things go)... can someone please look at the diagram in the following pdf (bottom of page 15) and tell me where the wires are supposed to go (in fig. 1)?? Do I have to splice the wire from my lighter or what? Thanks in advance.

If your receiver does not have the pin 15, use the adapter provided to supply 12V. Hook up the fused end to a continual 12V power source and the other end to chassis ground. The 12V side needs to go to the battery or any unswitched 12V line. The lighter (I think) is switched... so you may want to find another line.
By switched, it's referring to turning off with ignition.
Your HU should have one switched and one permanent 12V line so look for that (you can find it in your HU operating/installation instructions).

Excellent, thank you very much. If I connect the +12V to a line from the HU, can I also connect the ground wire to a ground from the HU?

On your Alaska HU, the permanent 12V is the yellow wire.
Since the permanent 12V only keeps the memory alive (time and presets), the thin wire of the factory harness should be adequate in delivering enough current for both units.

You can connect the ground to the HU ground if you want.
