Need bass, please help

what is my best option to add some kind of bass (for instance an 8" sub) to my car. I have a 98 GXE with no bose, so i just have four 6.5" speakers with all treble and no kind of bass. I don't really want to run an amp, are there decent speakers I can get that fit in the stock location, or a powered sub?

What KIND of bass, anything below around 60hz is more accurately reproduced using a sub woofer, if you listen to a lot of rock, theres a lot of kickbass in the 80hz region so you can survive without a sub...

If thats what your looking for, then the best investment you can make is a pair of front components, a two channel amp, and deadening...

Sound like you need a sub. How much do you have to spend?

And power that with a stock HU? I think not. You need a sub. A powered sub could do fine for you. You also DO need a namp for any subwoofer for it to perform.

I've got some 8's avaialble cheap if you're interested pm me.

get a sub....it'll give you the low freq. bass you need for rap...but you'll quickly find yourself wanting new interiors to keep up with the new bass

If it's an 8" he might be able to get away with it.

A nice 8" might be all he needs. The Soundsplinter RL-i8 comes to mind.

A self powered enclosure with an 8 or 10 would certainly get the task done.

Running an amp is easy... Just hook the power cable up to the battery, zip-tie it to some crap on the undercarriage and drill a hole through the rear wheel-well into the trunk. There's power.

Signal is easy too, just hook up the remote wire and RCAs, run them along the floor, up along-slide the back seat and feed it in through the opening for the top brake-light under your rear window and feed that down into the trunk.

Not like I've even done anything like that before.

But in my honest opinion you really need at least a 10" sub to get somewhere close to sound that would make you happy. If you go and spend money on some 6.5 speakers in hope of getting any kind of rap-friendly base you are going to be severely disappointed.
