Please help with SWI-X installation
Early last week, my Bose head unit started churning out "CD ERR F3" messages whenever I try to use a CD. After some research on this forum and exploring my options, I decided to just replace my head unit for now. I found an older Alpine 7894 deck on eBay and ordered the PAC ROEM-NIS2 and SWI-X kits as well.
I have the ROEM-NIS2 kit all soldered and heat-shrinked to the Alpine deck. I'm having some trouble following the SWI-X instructions as found here:
http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogram...ehicles&ID=204
For those that have installed the SWI-X yourselves, can you please answer the following questions?
1) There are three harnesses that I pulled out of the Bose head unit. Are the blue/yellow wire and green/black (or red) wire part of the harness that the aftermarket head unit does not use?
2) How do you identify which resistor is the 150 ohm and the 47 ohm resistors? What did you use and how did you connect the resistors to the wires and the white wire to the resistor? If anyone can provide a picture of what this looks like, that would be ideal.
3) Where did you end of mounting the infrared emitter? Are there any obvious places in our Maximas?

1) Hrmm... its probably not used if you got a bose harness and theres nothign left..
2) use a multi meter or its in the paper work.
3)I usually mount them in the dome light, aim it towards the headunit. Usually you can put it aiming through one of the cracks, it works fine..

There are three harnesses that the old Bose unit was attached to. Two of them are used by the new Alpine head unit. Am I safe to assume that the one that is not used by the Alpine head unit is the harness for the steering wheel buttons that I need to cut and splice to the SWI-X?
Also, how did you connect the infrared emitter to the dome light? The SWI-X cord for the emitter is only 4 ft long. Thanks for answering my questions!

The deck that I'm installing is the CDA-7894 and not supported.

Thanks to everybody. I have everything hooked up and running now. I found an old thread that was immensely helpful while searching for something else:
