Viper 791 Owners Please Step In!!!
I just bought the Viper 791XVR from Best Buy and was wondering if I will need to buy additional parts to keep some of the stock options like the window roll down feature and the trunk popper. Also I saw that Best Buy is not on thier list for installers so I'm definetly going to find another shop to do it. So far the average quote is 150-175 is that good?

150-175 is about average. Make sure the shop you find is reputable..
to keep the roll down feature on your new remote you need to add a modual.. DEI 530T.
trunk pop is usually per shop.. some shops charge extra for it, some dont, if the unit has a built in relay for trunk (the Viper does) then they can just tag the line, good to go. Dont be surprised if they charge extra though, just warning you.

So for sure I'm gonna have to pay extra for the window feature and may be charged extra for the trunk pop. Any other componets you guys reccomend to make the most out of this alarm?

Okay I got my alarm installed by an authorized dealer and as usual nothing I get ever works right. The trunk release doesn't respond right away. It takes 4 or 5 tries for it to respond. They said the signal is very weak for some reason and they asked me where I got the alarm from. When I told them Best Buy they told me that Viper gives retail stores different quality products then authorized dealers. They said the Brain may be the issue. So damn if I didn't get such a good employee discount on that thing I would've gone to the shop I had it installed at. Anyone else run into that problem? Any solutions that I could try myself? I'm even afraid to ask them if my alarm came with a valet button cause like they said they don't give retail stores all the parts like they do with the dealers. Anyways any help would be appreciated!!!

sounds like a load of crap to me. they may have un-nessecarilly tapped the trunk line through a relay, not knowing there was one built in to the alarm brain (pretty sure there is), that might take an extra half a second. maybe. Or maybe they grabbed the wrong line-
If it truely is a Viper 791, its a viper 791, theres not a crappy one and a better one, thats ridiculous.

i don't think that there is a onboard relay on the 791xv for trunk rls. Every 791 i did on a maxima required the use of an external relay. P.s. you should probably look under your dash to see what type of job they did installing the alarm.

Now THAT is the funniest **** Ive heard in awhile. Not only is it 110% false, its very leading to say that BestFry isnt authorized. Theres Absolutely NO difference in product. They all come with the same products, if theres no valet or manual shutdown switch, then look to the installer because he was too lazy to install em..
As for the problem at hand ... you are Holding the trunk release button down correct?

Oh and do you guys know how to keep the windows rolled down when I remote start? When I remote start the windows go back up. I'll look under the dash to see what kind of job they did.
Im guessing you also got a 529/530T window module? Sounds like they definately wired something wrong.

LOL yeah I'll take a pic of it tomorrow. When I went back about the window thing they said thats what the relay is supposed to do. It's only one or the other. Then I asked them if I got an aftermarket trunk popper if the trunk would work. They said no there is nothing wrong with the car it's the brain thats the problem. So I'm going back to best buy to have them look at it and if its the brain they can exchange the brains. So what do you guys think, did I get screwed with a bad install?

Hopefully under your dash looks similiar to that. That is how a prewired alarm brain should look
.
Oh, and the window thing... The 530T can do 2 Windows UP AND DOWN , or 4 windows up OR DOWN. I believe that's how it works. Also i think Don, is a bit over rated
haha jk

Thanks for that page. They didn't program it like that I have to hold aux and unlock to roll down the windows. Aux was supposed to be the trunk release. Anyway I paid for a half *** job they used speaker wire for some things and the only thing wired to the trunk was the trigger. I guess the installer was quick and used my stock remote to open the trunk cause I haven't been able to get the trunk open myself with the remote. Damn and I paid cash for that install too. I guess I'll try and go back and see if they'll do anything but I know they'll just argue with me that the brain is bad.

AUX+unlock would be correct as the AUX should have been used for the trunk.
As for rolling up when you remote start...sounds like they connected the ground when armed wire to the ignition. It shouldnt be connected to anything.
As for incremental rolling .. tell them to turn up the sensitivity.
