Antenna Cable

I just bought a 91 Maxima, and after having some problems with radio reception (Factory Clarion System) I decided to do some probing to see if I could spot a bad ground.

Turns out the previous owner had installed an after market head for some time and instead of buying the $8 adapter for the diversity antenna, just snipped and patched together wiring.

I have improved the reception some by redoing the patch job, but it still isn't good enough for my liking. If I decided to just replace the antenna cable all together, is it one cable that goes from the radio to the rear antena and the window antenna, or is there a connecting spot where I can insert a proper cable for a short distance by using proper adapters?

According to my '89 Max service manual it's a single cable that runs from the power antenna unit and sub unit in the rear window right to the front. There is one splice in the cable where the sub feeder joins up.
