finaly got around to installing my slc's

finaly got around to installing my slc 365's. installed the mid speakers in q logic kicks, 6's in the doors and put the tweets on the a pilers. all i can say is 2 things, damn you alpine for making me listen to crappy speakers for the last year.. and thank you .org'ers for raving about the slc and also don for geting them for me. and if they sound this good now, im inpaciently awaiting them fully broken in like a little kid on the night before xmas. install went smooth, only problem i had was the angled tweeter mounts had fixed snaps that would put the rainbow logo at a sharp angle. luckly i was able to break the snaps off and use the screws that came with them to mount them level. going 3 way with kicks gives as nice balance were you feel like the music is evenly coming at you from both sides. anyone thinking of jumping on those new slc's should! ... enough said.

and now you'll see why i dont take pictures! i suck at it.. ill have to get a better pic of the kicks in the day. on the phone the kicks arnt that dark, you can actualy see them. for some reason when i put it on a pc its to dark. well right now we have the pioneer head unit, the rainbow slc 365's in the front. i have type R's still in the back that will be upgraded in the future. trunk has the id12 with the kicker zx750.. and the sub/amp i did like 2 years ago when i got my max when i was much less experienced and knowledgeable about high end car stereo. (was still going on the highschool knowledge i had) and befor anyone makes the comment, yes that is a 1.2 farad c[R]ap next to the sub. i keep telling my self i need to do the trunk right but i will leave it till i get the new amps and then ill do the big 3 because the cap fixed the diming problem.... ya been 2 years but i will get to it i swear... and carpeting the box.... but sounds very nice, but i want a 2nd id12 and probably some audison amps. we shall see, its an ongoing project.

can't the tweeter fit behind the grill? paint the mdf in the trunk flat black or carpet it and you've got a pretty clean setup

Nice glad your likin em, but how come tweet and midbass are surface mounted? They both fit easily behind door panel and A pillar.

they do both fit behind the panels but... when you have a nice system, you show it off! thats really why i surface mounted them, wanted to show off what i had, plus did the tweets surfaced so i could angle them better.. i think it looks really nice the way i did. some people like to hide them behind the paneling, for security reasons and to make it look cleaner, but i wanted to see them. ya thank you don again. im holding off carpeting the box till i get the next set of upgrades, which will be a big chunk of cash,do the big 3 then new amps and build a new box for 2 id 12's and ill carpet the next one. this is that long term temp setup..... that hole lacking money and modeivation.

hmm...what happens if you ever sell your car? you're gonna have to find new door panels. also, i'm not a big fan of sticking a tweeter on the a pillar like that...but i guess, as long as you like it...that's what really counts.

also, your trunk really doesn't look that bad. i would just fix your power and ground wires. you took the time to route your speaker wires and cap wires nicely, but then got lazy with the power and ground wires.

wasnt lazy with the power/ground, i just couldnt figur out a better way to run them, behind the left side of amp is speaker box, the right side was open so i could run it behind the box. and im trying not to ever sell this car... goal is to run it into the dirt... or atleast keep it till its not worth much and sell it to some kid, leave the speakers in it ya know? ive already done a lot of crap to the car and it would cost to much to go back stock to sell it. it only has 60k on it, so if it took me 3 years to get from 22k to 60k, cars good for 150+ but then again whos kidding who, ive totaled 4 cars already.. (honestly not my fault either, scary newengland drivers)

Well.. i hope that stuff doesn't get stolen. Did you reverse phase on your tweets? Why didn't you put them in the kicks?

i did not reverse phase them, should i have? sorry i just dont know the reason for doing that on the tweets. i could try reversing them to hear the differance. i wired up the tweets and i put them down on the kicks and listened, then i put them up on the top, and i felt like when they were at your feet all the audio was comeing from the ground, when i put them on the pillers it filled it out so it sounds like its coming from infront of you. but if anyone has any ideas for how to run the power and ground into the amp with it looking good. let me know, its a false wall with a box on the other side thats up agenst the back seat. i have like 5 inches of room on the sides. i was playing around with cuting a channel threw the wall but the wires a bit thick, plus i have the distrobution block on the top of the box. trying to keep the ground wire as short as possible. it is a false floor too, was thinking about going straight down and put the block under the floor were the ground is, but then id have wires on the bottom that can get damaged easier. tried to put the amp on the top of the box but theres no room, and plus heat. whats nice is going from Type-r's i had the crossovers at 65 for sub, and 50 for highs, now i can do 50/50 since the slc's actualy have mid mass! the type-r's i noticed, have a good amount of midbass when you give them <25 watts, the more watts you gave them the cleaner they sounded but it diminished the bass. and my experience is usally the more watts you give a speaker the more bass you get out. could be wrong tho.

I would, it might help the response since the tweets are so far from the mids.

Also I don't get it. You did make a big *** hole for the rca's and such, why not the same for the power/ground?

i explained why, the box takes up most of the back of the false wall. on the right side theres no box (about 5 inches of space) so i can easly place a big *** hole there. but were the power and ground wires go into the amp. thats all speaker box. the box is only deep enough for the sub to fit, but its wide so it doesnt take up room and still 1.33sqf. big *** hole for power/ground=ported box. thats why.

Put the hole on the right side where the rca's are and use wire cable clamps http://cableorganizer.com/cable-clamps/ to clean it up.

Where did you go to school in CT? They didn't learn ya very good grammar.
