im sorry if this was already mentioned but sirius and xm are one now. If you buy the starmate 5 you can get the alacart special. Sirius is the company you would sign up with but you can receive diff packages from both.

this arguing is pointless anyway since XM and Sirius have merged, you can buy full Sirius with the best of XM or vice versa for i think 16 bucks? Not bad.

Either XM or Sirius are better than any terrestrial radio station...

I haven't really listened to ******** radio for years, it sucks, you hear the same 10 songs every day all day, I hate old radio, it's all ads and crappy music that I would never listen to anyways. Sirius is the best entertainment hands down, the music is awesome, you never hear the same stuff twice, and they have so many stations that play stuff for whatever mood you are in, all kinds of classic rock, jazz, techno, pop, top 10 stuff, anything you could ever want. The variety is overwhelming, and very little commercial interruption. I listen to stern every single day, and news/sports all day long. Sirius has changed the way I listen to radio, I would cry without it. I drive an average of 2 hours a day and Sirius is the only thing that keeps me from going postal as I inchworm along in chicago rush hour traffic.

I have XM in my GMC, Wifey's Maxima and at home.

I listen to Rock on 48 mostly and comedians for the drive home along with traffic and weather. It has everything you could ever want to listen to except for Christian Rock is missing.

I pay $60 every 3 months for 2 receivers on the plan. It's worth it and nice to get anything I want to listen to on trips when local stations go in and out. It doesn't have the local flavor that radio usually has, but worth it? Yes, until the $60 gets drafted and I wonder if it was a good thing for about a week and then don't care, because I listen to it all the time.

I've noticed that in all my XM solutions, the bass is less (like playing mp3 junk, did I mention I hate low quality mp3's... I BUY THE CD and RIP a copy instead) and has to be tweaked up to be heard. I have the Delco Bose in my GMC Crewcab and the Bose system in the Max with a sealed JL Audio 10 in place of the original 8" sub powered by a Fosgate 300W amp. It's noticable so I increase the bass boost from 5 to 8 or 9 to level it out.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but because of these insane rules on the board, I can not post a new thread, I have to reply to them, and if I am getting help, or trying to get help on an unrelated topic, then, what?

Anyway, whats a good price to get the full install on an 06 Max for XM? Unit runs around $200 or so.

I had XM for 4 years. Its worth it if you pay half price, but I won't pay full. I listen to my MP3, CDs, or my favorite local sports show (1310 in dallas) and I don't miss it. They screwed up all the stations with the merge so I couldn't find the sqizz...

Im adding Xm to my pionner unit and yes don't pay full price. There is a trick I found online where you call tell them about a $77 a year promotion with free activation, you saw online and give your radio Id they'll give it to you also putting your credit card on file is a extra 12bucks off so brings you to about 60 bucks a year not bad and if you new you could also ask about a free trial.

I have an 06 Maxima that supports satellite, it has a sat button and all, and I was thinking of getting this unit, and having it installed:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...03469&viewitem=

Then I went to crutchfield.com and they had the XMD1000 for sale for $59.99, but when I emailed and asked them what other parts would I need, they said that the XMD1000 isn't compatible with my vehicle.

What do I need to get to have a full install in my OEM radio and have the text show on the OEM display and the stearing wheel controls work for the channels/volume?

If you like the sound quality of your Ipod, you will love it. If your ears are critical, you will hear all the missing tones, both high and low. To me it's a difference like listening to a CD versus FM Radio, which is significant. The most obvious is when listening, the quality goes like this.... 8-Track, Cassette Tape, XM (highly compressed audio) FM, CD, Digital Master.

I have lifetime XM and I really love it. I am disappointed that channel 155 has dropped GMA ... It was great leaving home and picking up where I left off in the car...

Do the Lifetime thing...

Hey - Just added one-year subscription in my 2009 Maxima for $77. They now have an artist royalty fee which is non-negotiable but it only brought it to $88.78. Original price was $143 + $22 royalty ($165). I was initially asked for the promotion code (which I did not have) but then specifically mentioned the "1 year of XM Everything for $77", so be SURE to state this.
