Gotta go do a job but here's some self help: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G20/2002_G20/2002_G20/

The electrical section is EL.pdf

The one that shows you your fuse boxes is the foldout.

WOO HOO!!!! I figured it out!!!!!

I tested everything with the multimeter - fuses are good, wire run from fusebox to HU connector is good, so I was stumped!

Then I looked at the Metra wiring diagram and realized that the illumination wire (orange) and acc power (red) are right next to each other. So, I turned on the headlights again and tested the red wire and got 12 volts! After looking closer at the diagram, I realized that Metra reversed the 2 wires! The orange is where the red should be a vice versa!!!!

So, I connected the harness with the current wiring and figured that if I turn on the headlights (which would supply the 12v to the acc) it should work.....and viola! It works!

So all this time, it was as simple as Metra reversing the 2 wire colors!!! ARGH!!!!

I will call them and find out why that happened, but all I have to do now is re-solder and everything should be done!

Thank you all so much for the help! I really appreciate it!!!

You must have had the same guy I had put your harness together. My RCA connectors were completely backwards. Left Front was colored for right rear, left rear was right front and so on. Glad you got it figured out.

Dude, check to make sure you don't have the remote and antenna lead hook up backwards.

OK, so everything is now installed and seems to be working properly. The only thing I do notice is that the volume is a little on the low side, and cranking it up to a bit louder causes some distortion.

Would I be better off using the Scoche OEA-4 instead of the Metra 70-7551 harness?

Thank you!

Yes, sounds like you need an LOC.

What kind of HU do you have installed? This is precisely the reason why the preout voltage of your HU determines which installation avenue you should go with - 70-7551 or LOC.

Hey djfrestyl - yeah, I was doing reading on both and settled on the metra harness, but think I may need to go with something else - I am using a JVC HU with 2.5v preouts.

Given the low voltage, should I switch over to LOC? If so, is the Scoche OEA-4 a good choice, or do I need to go with the PAC ROEM?

Thank you!!

2.5v is definitely too low. Either LOC is fine, they both work well.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking...do you have a preference between the Scoche or PAC in terms of ease of installation or ease of fine-tuning?

Nope not really. Installation is the same, a bunch of wires

Go for the one that's cheaper?

Will do....

is the fine tuning a pain, or is it relatively easy?

thank you so much for the help!

Crank your radio to about 90% with the adjuster ***** on the LOC at 0.

Then slowly increase each **** till you hear distortion, then back off a little.

Noob in this particular forum.

Just picked up an 07 Maxima SE.

Swapping in the following HU to a non nav bose setup. (Alpine IDA-X305 w/ PXA-H110 Kit)

If I've read everything correctly. I'll need the Metra 70-7551 wiring harness. (4v pre-outs on HU w/ PXAh100 kit) and the Metra antenna adapter. To hook to the factory bose speakers/amps.

**ACTUAL QUESTION BELOW**

My vehicle has steering controls and factory bluetooth. I want to retain both and I am unfamiliar with the factory wiring.

Thus far I have located the following products to retain each feature individualy. But can they work together/wire up without issue?

Steering wheel adapter: METRA ASWC
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Bluetooth adapter and trip information: AXXESS NIRD-01 (Buggy but works)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Any input in greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

First Post! I apologize for not reading the entire thread, I've spent countless hours searching for the answer to my question to no avail. I tried the install months ago and didn't get it right, due to the fact I had never read this thread now im tired of the radio and want to give it another go. I bought the dash kit and the basic scosche wiring kit (not for bose).

My question is as follows:
Can i splice rca connectors to my basic wiring harness to effectively make my own Metra style harness? Has anybody done this, or should i not open it, return it and order the Metra?

when using the amp integration Harness for the bose 2002 max, which input do you plug the green, gray, purple and white rca. I know you plug it in the back but in the back are red and white inputs

On your HU,
Red = right
White = left
Then they should be labeled as front/rear

On the harness,
Purple & Green = rear
White & Gray = front

It definitely matters - check the package of the harness, I can't remember off the top of my head.

ok went through 2 pages. too lazy to read the rest. How can I rewire the factory bose wires to bypass the bose amps and use an external amp on new aftermarket speakers? I would rather use the stock ****ty 20ga or whatever wires and power my cheap pioneers with an external amp.

a question for you electronics people

so i had to put an aftermarket radio in my 99 maxima that has the bose system in it...actually have a couple questions...

first...when listening to my mp3s ...especially those with heavy bass ...im getting static not tons of distortion ...just alot of static ...what fixes that

also...i have a ground loop...not a big deal...however...can that ground loop cause a spike that would make my bat and brake lights come on...already had the alternator and battery checked by 4 different places...all are saying good and seem to be charging fine...so im wondering if it was just a spike?

thanks for the help

Need more info. How do you have your radio connected? Via an LOC? PAC adapter?

What makes you think you have a ground loop?

Is there a way I can use the bose sub but use an aftermarket amp too?

I hv a pioneer 4300 and wanted to add a set of budget components in the front and coaxials in the rear doors.

I will be using an alpine MRF-240 amp which puts out 50X4.

Yes, just splice some female RCA's to the speaker leads coming out of the Bose HU. Those are your preamp signal wires for your 4 channel amp. Replace the 4 Bose speakers with aftermarket, done.

Hmm...

To keep your Bose sub working, you will have to continue to use the 70-7551. But you have to use the front/rear RCA preouts or the new amp.

So - either get splitters for the RCA's, or yea, splice a pair of female RCA's on there.

Another thing I am noticing is with the current state:
Pioneer AVH 4300DVD with Metra 7551
Stock Bose speakers and amp

I am not super happy with the sub... level feels kind of low. Since I have used rear/front preout with the metra, the sub controls are not working.

Is there a way around this?

Basically looking to see if I can control the sub.

Worse case, I will add the alpine with a set of polk DB6500 i hv in the garage and some cheap ones for the rear doors. that way I can hv the HU sub line going directly to the bose sub.

The sub signals do go through the preouts. Which one, im not sure of.

Try this. At the sub amp, figure out which wire is the preout signal. Then run an RCA from your sub output on your HU to those two wires. Cut the wire though, so that the 2 signals don't mix/cross.

Is is it true that this will work in my 4th gen instead of the metra 70-7551? By the way, I am using the stock amp and Bose speakers. Just replacing the HU.
