Eclipse time-alignment

Anyone have any idea how to use time-alignment on the CD7100 or any Eclipse? I am completely clueless. Thank you

personally i think it's worthless. you need time alignment in large areas. in a car i find it hard to believe that your ears would be able to notice the sound waves traveling 2-3 feet further then the other...given how fast they travel.

Its useful for other things...but people assume that they need to use T/A (and gobbs of it) to get a good center image...

Recipe for good soundstage:
  • Good install with minimal reflections (IE dash is a bad idea, kicks are a GOOD idea)...
  • 3 way is not necessary, but a good idea...
  • Independent L/R gains
  • Independent L/R EQs

All you need to do is gain match the left and right speakers to the left and right ears respectively. Then go to each band in the EQ and gain match each frequency using test tones or an RTA...

Don't believe me? Give it a try for yourself if you have the equipment and a good install...

Ok, thanks...what about the gain though? The Eclipse claims to be 8V pre-out, but I've heard from some Orgers that it doesn't really put out that much for music. My Audison LRx2.9 has gain settings 1 thru 9, 9 being the loudest. What setting should I use to make the amp in sync with the Eclipse CD7100?

Just do it by ear...listen to an unclipped, but loud track and raise the gain until you hear distortion (or to the loudest, undistorted volume level you can handle), then lower it a tad making sure you have a decent amount of headroom...

The consensus is usually 3/4 or 2/3 volume with most decks...

Ok.....in my Audison instruction manual I saw a picture talking about the gain. It shows a head unit sending 5V to the amp, with the amp gain level at 6 of 9, and it says DISTORTION!! Does that mean that since my Eclipse is 8V, I should have the Audison at no more that level 4?
