Adding Speakers to Bose System
Adding Speakers to Bose System
Currently have the bose speakers in my 2002, have replaced the head unit with an in dash dvd player and used the appropriate adapters. I was thinking about purchasing a 3rd set of bose speakers and installing them in my rear deck along with a set of aftermarket tweeters. I figure if I buy a set of front speakers, I can just give the bose amps power ground and source. Does anyone have any input on doing this?
uhhhh, well, i think that ur year has a central bose amp, so relocating the speaks shouldnt be too hard, adding more speakers? i dont see why you would even bother to be honest. What you are doing is one of those things where the oppurunity arises, but you are making the situation arise instead. I supppose you could do it, i dont think over all it would sound good, i would just leave it tbh.
Im not using any preamp out puts as of yet, so theres 2 sets of those open...I was fairly partial to the way the 4th gen maxima speakers were in the back deck. The baddest sounding system in a maxima I heard was two sets of component speakers, one in front and the other in back. My model does have the sub in the middle stock, from what I've read although you hack up your child safety restraints, a 6.25in speaker should fit on either side.
My idea was to wire the speakers in the back deck and use them as the primary rear speakers, then run the stock rear door speakers off of one of the preamp out puts where I could adjust it down, possibly reverse that if I need further adjustment to keep from killing people's ears in back.
I was also planning on shaving the rear deck while it was out, either by creating another piece of fiber board with just the speaker holes cut or by rewrapping the stock piece. Then using bose speaker grills from a different year to cover the speakers in the deck.
Really my questions are, what are the 6? wires going into the front speaker amps, power, ground, tweeter + and neg, source and.. remote? Have I misread on my years about the availibility of space in the rear deck to house two speakers.
Will a 3in driver fit in the C pillar? There cannot be much mounting clearance under the panel if I remember correctly.

Me and Kpr10is did extensive testing on the 3" idea and are actually in preliminary talks with AA to produce a custom ultra-light, ultra-thin 3" speaker to fit in the c pillar with no issues.
A multi range speaker, or primarily bass, mid or high? While sitting in the drivers seat I just cant recreate the fullness of the sound that I had in my white maxima with my speakers in the deck. Keep me posted on your findings of the 3in woofer
