self install or professional

I just visited the local circuit city today looking to have the pioneer deh-p5000ub installed in my 95 with the bose system. I just want the head unit put in keeping the bose speakers cause i just dont have the money at the moment for everything. The price on the head unit was what i expected but even with their advertisment of free installation it's still gonna cost me an extra $130 to have it done there. That extra includes the dash kit, antenna adapter, and wiring harness. I'm just looking for opinions as to wether i should pay for the install or if i should just try to do it myself. This would be my first install and thats the reason why i'm not to sure about doing it myself.

it's really not that bad to DIY. if you can match color wires together you can install it. i'm sure there's a write up somewhere on dash removal of your 4th gen...or maybe someone from here can chime in with some assistance.

nah it's really hard to mess up. you basically match the wire color on the radio harness to the harness that plugs into your car. you can just crimp the wires together, or solder for a better connection.

But how does the bose wiring harness work? It looks like if i use the metra 70-7551 harness then it plugs into the rca preamp outs on the rear of the deck and then into the stock wires going to the speakers? I apologize for being such a noob about this but I havent had much experience with car audio installation.

just remember when you have everything hooked up with the 70-7551 there is a ground wire but there is no ground in the factory harness... you are going to have to run your own ground to the chassis.
