Install Question for 5 gen

I have a Clarion double-din unit installed on my 2k GXE. With factory speakers, the sound is horrible. I'm thinking about getting an equalizer, but where do I install it? For all of you wiz's out there, you guys manage to install a home theater system in your dashes.

Hey GXE-r,
I saw you on reisterstown road a couple of weeks ago. I was in the Green max w/ the hid lights that you stared back at...
I've seen an equilizer installed where the little holder/ashtray is. They had cut the dash and customized it (i.e. lots of work!!!) All I did to my car was changed the speakers to 6 1/2 Pioneer 3-way. My system soulds great with the factory double-din I have.

An eq isn't really what ya want. A system should sound pretty good before you ever touch an eq, eq's are ment to fix small defects not fix everything. But when your ready for one I know alot of places to put it. But I would recomend getting new speakers first, then amps, then an active x over then an eq

Igor,

thats what I thought LOL. Did you install your speakers by yourself? Igor, lets meet up sometime. funlover2225@yahoo.com I live right off reisterstown rd.

My car had basic radio/tape unit and 4 speaker setup, so I had to put in smthg better. Double-DIN Clarion ADX 5655z is a great unit, but I can't hear it, stock speakers are lousy. If I could figure out how to do the install myself, I'd replace all 4 and install tweeters.

I asked about equalizer because it enables you to adjust the highs, lows, and mids...

Yes, I installed my speakers by myself. They were a little tricky, but the hard work paid off. I now have 4 - 6 1/2 3-way pioneer speakers, 2 tweeters, 600w kenwood amp, 12 Xtant sub and just reciently installed Varad Gothic Scanner.

Igor,
What is max size of rear door speakers? Is it 6 3/4" or 6 1/2" ?
I want to install Pioneer TSA-1695(6 1/2") into front doors and
TSA-1795(6 3/4") into rear. Whitch speakers did you install?
How tricky is installation? Your advice.
Happy New Year!

I installed 6 1/2's. What I did was I riped out the factory speakers out of the brackets and used the old brackets to mount the new speakers on to them then to the door. If I would change speakers again in the future, i would buy 6 3/4. Good Luck

Are You sure 6 3/4 fit front and rear doors? According Crutchfild
6 1/2 for front and 6 3/4 for rear. I found 6 3/4 have better parameters and cost less then 6 1/2. I would buy 6 3/4 if they fit.
