Opinions on Components...
Ok, finally getting around to doing my stereo, so just looking for an opinion from all you audio heads...which components would you recommend? here's the 3 sets i'm looking at...
MB Quart Premium PVI-216
DLS Ultimate UP6
Rainbow SLC-265
Looking for a good midrange with a decent balance of high and low, not something heavy with bass. Thoughts?

Of those three, I'd shoot for the DLS, but you can't go wrong with Rainbow either. MB's are a little harsh for my liking, but some people prefer that kind of sound characteristics.

yea, the main reason I was considering the Quarts was because I can put together a Quart package (a set of PVI216 for the front, a pair of DKH116 for the rear doors, and a ONX4.80 4-channel) for $350 total through my buddy...so for that price, I was thinking it might be worth it, considering I would be paying a little more then that total for JUST the DLS or Rainbow components.

Personally id have to go with the dls's. i ran a set of the 6.5 nobelliums with the iridium mid for a 3 way setup and was more than satisfied. Replaced my germaniums and i had absolutely no feelings of anything being lefft lacking, even going from a 4 6.5 speaker setup to a true 3 way.
Quartz have always had good speakers but the amount of eqing and tuning to take the harshness out of those EXTRA BRIGHT *** Tin foil tweeters has always been a deterent. Id say shoot for the dls's 8 inch if possible...bigger is better right?

general concensus says DLS
I would also go with the 8.3 route if you have the time and funds...but you have to PROPERLY install them! I had to cut away about a 1" strip of sheet metal off my doors so I can get the 8" to clear. But it's definately worth it!

I've ran the SLCs for awhile...the older generation at least...and they're pretty good for the money. Then I switched over to the DLS IR 8.3's and absolutely love them. Nice and neutral sound, clear defined highs with no sign of harshness. Mid range is pretty good as well.

For sure ? Why ? At least others give reasons to support their claims.
You ? What ?
Bleh, no matter I still support, sell install both.

hmm...yes i could have done that...
Blkmagic just deal with Don and call it a day!
and yeah the 8" is more expensive, but worth it IMO. It really depends if the OP wants to put in more work to properly install them.

MAN!! Where do you guys get the money for that stuff!?
Aren't the 8" somewhere around $700!? (at least the iridiums are)
I wish I had that kind of money to spend on components!!

lol. I spent $60 on components in my last car and believe it or not, the SQ was just as good, if not better than my stock Bose. Of course the Bose has more base though.

From the prices I found online, I was looking at between $4-600, and while I want good sound, I wasn't sure if it was worth spending over $1000 by the time i'm set and done with 2 component sets and an amp, when I could do the MB Quart setup for about $350 through my buddy...which is why I came on here to see what people more knowledgable with this stuff then me thought.

yea, i'm willing to drop some coin, but not enough for the 8's...i'm gonna stick with 6.5's lol...but the more I hear about DLS, the more I want to just spend the money and do it.

How good are the installers around your way? or will you be doing this yourself?
Spending 500+ on a comp set is a waste imo when you can piece together raw drivers and get the same performance for a fraction of the cost

the 6.5s are fine. just remember to deaden the doors so you can get the most out of the midbass drivers.

MB Q went downhill big time when they got bought out years back.
