budget small amp
after installing a cheapo xovision hu, the sound is wimpy compare to oem non-bose hu while playing regular cd. there is no punch to it so i planning on buying a small budget 4 channel amp. i really need my truck space so i am not interested in a sub or any fancy stuff. is it a good location to mount an amp b/w the 2 rear speakers in the truck and ground it somewhere on the same metal b/w the 2 rear speakers?

damn that is bad news for me. thanks for the info. i love the features and bluetooth on this cheapo touch screen. the bluetooth is awesome. now it's hard to let go this hu. i'll be satisfy with a bit more power, of course not with poorer sound than it is. will it work with a 2 channel amp to save $$? is it ok to connect rt front speaker and rt rear speaker in 1 channel and the left front and rear into another. i def don't mind a bit better sound improvement.

ah, I didnt realize it was a touch screen. give a 2 channel a shot then, any 2 channel with HPF filters (in other words, don't buy a sub amp) will work.
Do you have aftermarket speakers? if they're stock, you'll blow them in no time with an amplifier. They are not designed to take more power than what a HU alone will put out.
if you do have A/M speakers, you can do as you were describing (combine lefts together, and rights together), but you will lose either fade or balance and the amp must be 2 ohm stable.. Might as well look for a 4 channel while you're looking for a 2.

i see so i'll def will get a 4 channel amp. i have cheapo boss ch6500 speakers for about 2 yrs just to replace the oem speakers that were cracked. the oem speakers seem to made out of paper like material. the spec listed RMS 40 watts/speaker. i have been looking so i will probably buy Jensen Power 760 with the RMS spec of 80 watts/channel. do you think Jensen amp will crack the speakers? now for 4th gen max amp & ground location, do people mount amps under the panel that supports the rear speakers and ground it on the same panel? thanks for the help.
