6th gen 6x9 woofer replacement??
6th gen 6x9 woofer replacement??
I want to know if anyone has replaced the 6x9 woofers in your max? I want to replace it with a 6.5 subwoofer/midbass or 6x9 midbass driver. I have found plenty of 6.5in subwoofers (kicker, jbl, R-F,) but only one or two different kinds 6x9 (CDT,Cadence, TANG).... I know little of those brand names.. a lil scary
Kicker 6.5in sub claims to drop down to 30hz which I find hard that hard to believe, but I figure it will give a little more punch the the factory DDSS 6x9's
So any one done this? And opinions, advice?

not many people with 6th gens have replaced the factory 6x9s on the rear deck with subwoofers. many have just completely removed them (like myself) to help vent the bass from the trunk into the cabin (that is...if you decide to go this route)
tang and CDT are pretty reputable.

what's your budget?

I would say look for Fosgates 6×9 speakers the 3 way ones had them a couple years back hooked to a fosgate amp and components up front major sound and got the bass there for you also...and if you want more bass throw a 12 " in the trunk...
I dont want to do a sub in the trunk. I am keeping it as factory looking as possible. EFX comp in the front and 6.5in rear doors and I am putting the 4 channel where the rear 6x9 amp is. I am running the the 4 ch on the components and whatever I decide to do in the place of the 6x9. Its a 100x4 @4ohm RMS 4channel so I can power big speakers in the rear.
not sure how much help this is but i just installed a pair of cdt cl69 i had in the stash in my titan. the original speakers were 2 ohm and these are 4 so i suffered a loss of output. the midrange is noticably better, however i'm doubtful that they have much low end based on my oem headunit powered experience. take it with a grain of salt. i'll be swapping them out for something else as soon as i get some money together.
