Did you buy the wiring harness for the to connect to the factory harness? What brand and model stereo we talking here? How did you run your power wire and your accessory wire IF you didnt buy an adapter? One of those 2 wires coming from the stereo (a red one and a yellow one IIRC) maintains your memory on the stereo but if you used an adapter going from the aftermarket stereo to the factory radio wiring harness, you should not have an issues with not keeping memory.

well the car already had a aftermarket kenwood deck, and this deck i just installed is a newer pioneer dxt 736 bt.
i used the harness that was used with the other deck, now if i remember correctly there was TWO red wires, and one yellow wire.
just trying to avoid paying the local radio place to fix something i could. just have limited patience with this car this week lol.

I would double check that yellow wire and make sure it is definitely to a constant source. Try wiring it directly to a fuse of constant power even when the car is off. Not sure on yours but some the cig lighter stays on when the car is off, power seats work when car is off etc. I'd try those. Connect a jumper from the yellow wire to the constant fuse, program your radio, shut the car off and see if that works. That'll at least give you a starting point. But it really sounds like the constant power wire is your problem.
EDIT according to this website http://www.moodym.com/maxima/audio/m...s/5th-gen.html the Yellow is definitely your constant and heres a reference for the factory wire colors.
According to this site with the manual, there should be only 1 red wire (Connect to terminal controlled by ignition switch), 1 orange/white wire (connect to lighting switch terminal) and 1 yellow wire (connect to the CONSTANT 12V supply terminal) Not sure where you came up with 2 reds unless maybe you mistook the orange one as red??? Go to page 63 if you need the wiring diagram. http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchf...130dehp4ub.pdf
