Anyone have any experience with the stinger amp kits? I saw one for sale for $29.99 for the 4 gauge kit. Any good or stay away?

Concur, but Duke - be sure you're getting the RIGHT size wires for your system. It's very easy to underpower amps when the price is right on a kit. Which amp(s) specifically are you installing? Brand and model #.

He did mention a very cheap price.

Is there different grades from Stinger?
I know mine was the proper gauge and full copper.

Installing an Alpine PDX-V9 5 Channel Amp. Getting the stinger 4 gauge amp kit. I think the one for 29.99 was a knock-off. the base price i am seeing for the 4 gauge kit is 59.99 including shipping, which comes with the RCA cables.

4 gauge looks sufficient. If you're using it in true 5 channel fashion, you'll need 6 channels worth of RCA cabling.

So far i received the Amp, wiring kit & sub. The speakers should come in today or tomorrow. Any useful tips for the install that people usually overlook? Also i have the Duralast Platinum Battery in my car. Is this sufficient power for the system & the car?

Battery should be fine.

What about RCA's? Speaker wire? MDF Mounting rings? Connectors?

Everything finally came in. Gonna work on making the box for the woofer this weekend to the recommended specifications. Before I start I wanted to check to see where the best place to put the woofer is, just In case I have to make a custom box in order to fit properly. Any suggestions? I'm thinking dead center, up against the back of the rear seats for the best weight distribution.

Unless you're going to glass a box against the left or right, dead center in the back is pretty much your only option.

Why not just get a prefab?

You'll need a shelf to keep the box level. See my "saggy spare tire" thread - the picture of the box without the trunk mat shows how the shelf levels out the box. Also, might as well get a spare tire cover from me while you're at it....

Was thinking the exact thing. When i was fitting the sub up today i placed it dead center, right behind the opening for the back seats. I noticed the sub was unstable & leaned forward so i cut a piece of wood to create a "shelf". Placed the wood under the sub where there was a gap between the sub & floor. Wood was cut so it wedged in perfectly. Just have to screw the wood in place.

Now im trying to fit the amp in. it is being positioned in the cut out of the trunk next to the driver side tail light. It fits perfectly there. I cut a piece of wood a little larger than the amp & plan on anchoring the wood to the body & then secure the amp to the wood. Just trying to figure out to go about. I'm thinking 2" sheet metal screws, then screw the wood to the body. The 2" sheet metal screws should be perfect for the job & wont damage the body. The only reason i was going to screw the wood in is because there is about a 1" void between the inside & the outside of the rear fender in that location.

I would not go with a longer screw just to fill in the space. I would fill the space with a block or something similar, then use proper length screws.

Advice Needed On Audio Components/Set-Up

I just bought a 2001 Nissan maxima and it had no stereo, I had a kenwood am/fm/cd player from my previous ride, so I install the radio and amp/sub and once I connect the radio the security light blinks and my parking lights turn on, So I looked over my work to make sure I didn't do anything wrong but it was fine. But the lights still don't shut off until I unplug radio, can someone help me figure what the problem is?

Roxies:

Welcome to the forum. Here are some tips that will help you get the help that you need.
1. Drop your font size down to normal. Your post is obnoxious. No one wants to read this.
2. Don't ask the same question in multiple threads. Please DELETE your post from my thread: http://forums.maxima.org/general-max...ml#post8964161
3. In general, we abide by a "search then ask" motto. If you spend a few minutes searching for your issue, you'll likely have been experienced by someone else, and a thread already exists for it. We try not to replicate threads or information.
4. Since your issue is a bit specific, there is already a general thread made specifically for people in your situation. Post your question here:

Best of luck with your Maxima.

Honestly I may be a new poster here. But who is this Gerbil recommending that Alpine is Garbage. Did he to much electro shock therapy or what? What a victim. Funny thing is that. The setup you mentioned is basically exactly what I want to do to my car. But until I have enoug cash for all of it. I'll gladly smack a ho for flapping his gums without explaining why exactly. Yeah dockhead. Opinions fine. But with not to explain on why you suggest not alpine. Just make you sound like a mentally ill patient from Bellvue. Annnnnnd I'm done... Lol
