Re: blown bose

Chances are that the amp for your speaker is blown, and not the speaker itself. They are notorious for that.

Cheapest fix? Replace the amp for that speaker and buy a bose headunit off of ebay. Labor charges for electronics repair don't make it worth fixing the HU. Better off replacing it. About $250 tops. $110 for the speaker amp, and 100-150 for the Bose headunit. Any Bose HU from a 95-99 Maxima will fit.

Look here for the amps;

Geez, for $500, you could probably replace the whole system with adequate new stuff that would match or exceed the Bose. To save the most money, find exact replacements at a salvage yard or off Ebay.

For $500? I don't think that's possible. You can replace the bose, but I doubt it will sound better. You've got to spend quite a bit more for that.

To stay stock, order new parts (at discounted rate)

For $200, you could get a brand NEW front Bose speaker/amplifier unit from Pinnacle Nissan (www.pinnaclenissan.com) or any other discount internet Nissan parts wholesaler (like Courtesy Nissan, etc.). The list price for that part is $267. For your LCD screen going out, assuming that's all that is wrong w/ your stereo, you could just replace the LCD screen yourself. On Pacific Parts (www.pacparts.com), you can order a new OEM Clarion faceplate(including a new LCD) for your Bose deck for about $35. I found this out while researching repair optoins for the Clarion/Bose deck display. Enter as a guest, and you will need to have the Clarion part number (not the Nissan part number) for your Bose deck when you do the search on Pacific Parts website. And just to let you know ahead of time, the website is NOT user friendly so be sure to get the part number of the Bose deck ahead of time before you enter the website. If you do the 2 things above, you'll have a repaired Bose stereo for around $250. Good luck.
