MTX and FOSGATE

yo, what would be louder and better? 2 Punch HX2 12's with a 1000 watt amp or 3 MTX thunder 6000 with 600 watts going to each? please give me your opinions.

You would also have to consider enclosure type, tuning frequency, or net internal volume for sealed. There are a lot of possible results. And the box coices would also change the internal volume of the maxima chosen, and that would affect the tuning of the car.

the hx2's would probably be louder but i would give them even more power than that! Put them in a ported box too, they will be a lot louder.

You're asking a lot for a dolla... Louder isn't always better, unless you're trying to break spl records. Like other threads here have eluded to, choose the speaker that works best for the enclosure, size, and appearance that fit your car. If you want a trunkless car, go for surface area (larger cones) and bigger box, and if you want something a little more subtle, then go for a speaker that needs smaller enclosure but can hold some juice (i.e. kicker solobarics and the like). Ultimately is up to you, I knew a guy once who had bottom of the line Fosgate Series 1 subs (they don't even make those anymore) and a beefy Coustic amp that in his install would rattle your fillings loose. Go figure.

First of, what the hell are you doing in a maxima site when you drive a Ford? Anyway, it's probably going to sound good as long as your install is good. Are you gonna fill up the back with an enclosure? If so, why don't you go with 2 or 3 12's then? If not, go the other route I mentioned earlier. Are you trying to save money, save space, or do both and still bust the windows out?
