My 95 Maxima w/ bose stereo... AM and FM don't work at all! Help!
Is this a common problem? I could really use some help on this one.
All of a sudden when you hit the AM or FM button on the radio, you get nothing but static. I don't care what station to try to tune to or how hard you listen, it's just a bunch of static, the same sound as if your radio worked but you were tuned to a frequency with absolutely no signal at all.
The CD player and tape player work like a charm... just AM and FM that's on the fritz.
BTW- when I select AM or FM radio, my antenna does raise up like it should.
So what should I look for? You think it's a problem with my actual Bose deck or maybe the radio antenna connection came loose?

Sounds like the antenna came loose. I would check that first. Also you might try tuning to what is normally the strongest station in your area, and wave your hands around the front and as much of the back of the radio as you can get to. Your body can act somewhat like a conductor (enough to sometimes get a weak signal). If it's not the antenna, then your tuner has gone bad.
