Has anybody out there seen Kenwood's newest HU?

I live out in SoCal, and I happened to go by one of those local car audio shops in Hawthorne, CA. Anyway, as I was speaking to the owner of the shop, he showed me this Kenwood head unit that is brand spanking new, and he was selling it for around $450.00, but from the looks of it, it probably retails for $600-$700 - because it's a Kenwood...

Anyway, here's the description: I believe that it has the new D-MASK faceplate display with the screen animations, but it also has what appears to be a second LCD faceplate (kinda like some Sony models that fold down. The first faceplate folds down at an angle to reveal the second display behind it. The slot for the CD is hidden behind the second faceplate, which slides down for access to the CD slot. If I remember, it's sports that new silver trim that many of the car audio makers are moving towards now. This is one bada$$-looking head unit!!! The guy told me that it also plays MP3s.

I can't even find it on Kenwood's website.

Has anybody else seen it I'm seriously considering taking out a loan for this one...

Kenwood bought the display technology from Pioneer. I am not sure if they have the ability to download pics from a computer as can the Pioneer's.

Chitwista...

I think you're right

I went back by the stereo place, and it was indeed a Pioneer (DEH-8400MP or something like that). I believe that it was a Premier series too, but don't quote me on that.

The cover faceplate has a big silver **** on the LHS but no display. When opened, it folds down and out and the display with the screensavers comes up. That's one nice piece of machinery, but I haven't heard it installed yet. I'm going to check out the Pioneer website and see if I can find more info on it.

Re: Chitwista IS right...

It's the Pioneer DEH-8400MP. It's currently on ebay consumer electronics for sale by IKESOUND for $385 = 16.95 S/H. I have a picture of it, but I don't know how to post it here. If you check on my homepage, I'll post a picture of it there.

My friend placed this is his 02 Se-R with the stock speakers it actually sounds better then 2k2 Maxima.. Almost sounds like a sub in the trunk, great headunit, great sound, easy to work, and very pretty.. I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE.. very solid as well, doesnt seem like it will fall apart like some of the other flipdowns..
