Extending crank time on remote starter...

Has anyone else had success with this? I extended the crank time on my remote starter but it still won't fire up on the first crank. Every morning I have to crank it once, turn it off, let it sit for about 30 seconds, crank it again and sometimes it starts there and sometimes I have to do it one more time.

What kind of starter is it? Doesnt it try for 3 times by itself? How many miles on your car? Does it usually start easily with the key?

I assume it's the original Nissan starter. It will try for three times if I let it, but I've found that if you let it crank once, turn it off, let it sit for a minute, and then a crank again it will start up in fewer cranks then just letting the three cranks run their cycle. I feel it's less work on the starter this way. And, yes it starts easily with key every time. I've got 111K and I keep her tuned up and maintained.

Its a Viper 500 with an addon ? or a Viper 550? How old is the unit? Datecode? Is your cold start wire connected? Its a green/red or Black/green high current wire on your ingnition wire set.

It's a model 500 and I added a Viper remote starter to it later. Not sure of the age, I got it used. A buddy of mine does all the security and stereo work for my car - I'd have to ask him about the cold start wire. I'm assuming the cold start wire is supposed to help start the car the first time, or what?

what you do...is program the alarm.."tach learning"..start the car..within 5 seconds press and hold the valet button untill the light turns on...i belive thats the right way...try that out. If it still dosent start right up....start the car..rev it to about 1000 rpm...then hold the button down (all within 5 seconds). That will program the alarm to stop cranking when the tach hits 1000 rpm. That should solve your prob.
