How can i stop this particular rattle

If you open your trunk, and then look straight down where the electric trunk release mechinism is, there is that long piece of plastic you can remove, so you can get down into the wires if you have to. Well, in that general area, there is alot of rattling when my bass hits, and I think that is honestly the majority of the rattling in my trunk. I have tried pushing on areas and banging the top to figure out where its stemming from, but no clue. Anyone else have this problem, if so how did you fix it.

p.s. Is stuff like Dynamat made to come off, or is it suppose to be a bit.ch. I am using Peel and Seal, so if the next owner ever wants to take it off (i have it in the trunk lid), they are going to have a rough time, along with a nasty yellowish color when you take it off the metal.

thanks
bryan

I took off the cover and stuff the whole area in there with rags so that the latch components dont rattle anymore. just be carefull to not put too much around the latch solenoid or you might jam it somehow.

Well, there is a black box that is in that general area that i have noticed when i press on it (push inward) and then i hit on the area where everything is connected, it makes the rattles go away, but the rag thing didn't help a whole lot. Its that stupid black box that seems to be the culperate.

well...what's the black box for, or what does it do? if nothing then take that sucker out and stomp on it for a few minutes, will make you feel better

it holds the wires and powers the electronic trunk release. The contraption is linked to it i think (the trunk release thing-a-majigies). Obviously its important.

i can't believe no one else has this problem. I mean, if you stand behind your car with the bass up, and the trunk closed, and listen, it goes nutz. Just rattle, bang, rattle, chichang, rattle...) I will try to get some pictures up tommorow to give you a better insight. Its the area underneath the long grey plastic strip that has 4 plastic screw looking things, and the you have to pop off like 4 grey tabs, then you have to move a little bit of the grey felted plastic covering. Its on a 1998 maxima too.

The only thing that rattles on mine is the license plate, but I don't have any pressure in the trunk either. The trunk does like to bounce to the music though. My 3rd gen was like what yours is doing, I just never really worried about it since I couldn't hear it from inside the car.
