Sep 10 SFR SCCA -PICTURES!!!!

Just wanted to share with everyone some pictures from the last event at Golden Gate Fields. Look on my home page...page 6. There were two other org guys Erjan and Daniel. I have some other pictures of a 350, RX-8, and an old Jag that I haven't put up yet. I also have a video clip but I need someone to host it for me...can anyone help?

Enjoy the pictures!

Well, I didn't take them obviously...but there was this camera guy out there taking pictures of everyone. Those were the only two of you, but the guy got like seven pictures of Erjan. Let me try to find his site again and I'll post it up here.

Anything new? Are you going to the next one?

I don't know what to do...I was thinking about picking up a little honda civic or should I just run the max? I need new tires and a y-pipe on the max. I guess I'm just venting cause I want a 5spd bad, but reason suggest that I pick up a beater and run that so that I have a car that's not being stressed.

Yes I will be at the opening of slush season.

I know what you mean, even with the 5sp and tires I don't think I'll be super competitive (though I can get into the top 3 in STS on the right track ). Luckily for me, my dad just got 92 SE-R that I will be driving next season I mean the Maxima was fun and all and I was pretty competitive in the very large Novice STS class this year but just need less weight to haul around the courses.

Erjan and I do that all the time, pretty much every course we run. There are some pics somewhere of Erjan at Infineon Raceway Lifting the rear tire on a very highspeed turn fun stuff for sure.

Yeah, you guys were driving like you hair was on fire, Erjan IS a Mad Man . I was working Group 1, Station 4, I think, the station at the back with the sweeper heading back... good vantage point. Love the sound of your intake! Hope to see you in the Slush.

Oh, those are the first of Doug's pics I've seen from Round 16 and was interested to see if he got any pics of Solo ACR in a drift? Could you share the site's URL?

Thanks,

Barry

Hey Brian,

Ergan definetely WINS the Inside Tire Lift competition! I've looked through all the Pics from the event and none has big air like "Air Jon" : http://www.talisweb.com/gallery/?dir...tive/SCCAAug10

While he deserves all the credit for air of the day the surface was much cleaner on the first runs of the day and at Golden Gate Fields street tired cars always do relatively better than those on DOT-Rs.

Rally Cry: Air Jon, Air Jon, Air Jon...

Man I haven't gotten any updates to this thread, I have been missing out!
Just to make a small correction to Daniels post...I'm running Intrax springs and tokicos struts. I have been trying to get a set of stock 300zx rims, but this other org member screwed me on the deal

I'm trying to get a set of lighter rims so that I can slap on some kumhos for the sluch season.

Well, I'll see you guys for the sluch season.

PS Any one know where I can get a set of light rims? cheap?

... Kosei K-1

I've got 4 with half tread Bridgestone SO-2s, 225/55 x 16s... great setup for Golden Gate Fields and, if it rains, well I've PAXed the Maxima # 1 in the rain on SO-2s...

If you're interested in lighter I've got a couple 15 x 7 K-1s and spacers for the front. Worked exceptionally well @ the Atwater Pro.

I've also got a couple loose Bridgestone SO-3s...

Barry,
I saw that for 16" the tire sizes available are the following for the SO-2's:
205/55R16
205/55ZR16
225/50R16
225/50ZR16

Could you clarify which one you have or did I just look at the wrong sheet? Are the rims in good condition? Also, what is the weight on the rims (16lbs)?

Awesome pics. . . I plan to autoX my max once I get some new tires for the front and some new struts for the rear (the blues are way too soft)

Joey,

My SO-2s are 225/55 x 16 and have about half of their original tread. The K-1s are in good condition and weigh about 15.5lb. each. My notes say the tires are 28 lb. each.

The way I came up with the price was half the original cost of the wheels and a little over $20.00 per tire, no cost for mounting or balancing. Sound fair?

I've got them @ Big O right now and it'll be the weekend before I can pick them up and get you a pic...

The SO-2s were on Kosei Laufer 6s and the K-1s had spent Kunho Victoracers on them. I had Big O move the SO-2s to the K-1s and toss the Victoracers. You can pick them up @ my place. PM me and I'll set you up with directions and phone number.

Thanks,

Barry

Hoo A! Yea we do, Daniel! Im late to get to this thread...! Im sorta kinda sad, because the days of that kind of wheel lift are gone after the springs and sway bar. Maybe if I try R compound?? hee hee!

Daniel, I missed the A/X today, watching the superbowl. Darn ECU didnt get shipped so Im bummed- but Im getting it monday. How did it go?

Sweet as cherry pie!
Got a bit more learning of this new car to do...I know it has alot more potential than I am using right now. Just takes a bit of time to relearn the "limits" of the car. I cannot begin to express just HOW MUCH more controllable the SE-R is than my poor old maxima. I can literally "toss" the SE-R into corners, apply a small brake stab, the a$$-end just swings out, then when pointed the desired direction just roll back on throttle, on even the tightest of turns it just DOES exactly what you want it too....
I think I came in 3 or 4th for STS and there were about 18 STS cars out there today, STS is gonna be HUGE this season I met at least four seasoned racers from LA area that just moved up here. So lots of new competition

Don't be sad about the wheel lift going away....it just means you can go faster in the corners more tires on the ground = more traction...plus you won't wear tires out so damn fast =P

What ECU are you getting? JWT? didn't know you were doing that. Cool Beans. Did you just get a new core and send that in or is your car currently decommisioned?

BTW I saw your 2nd place GS trophy today it has a pretty sweet picture on it of you and your max on the track.

Sweeet. Looking forward to that trophy! And the fella who I have had doing my exhaust (scott performance in sunnyvale) has pull with JWT so Im getting my ECU in 1 week w/o fronting my core. The drawback is that he is charging a bit more than Cattman; $650. But I figure the service is worth $100.

Yeeea Im super hyped about the ECU. Its gonna make a big difference from what I have read. Im about to drool as I type. Spoke too soon..

Thats shweet news about STS. Good to have alot of people and good job on your finish!!! As for me, Im considering trying to get competitive the old fashioned way- by spending alot of $$$$ buying SSR competition rims (16x7.5 and 12.8 lbs- on sale at tirerack for 259/ea; still a friggin lotta cash...) but then I could go with 215/45/16 azenis. I would imagine that the ecu and the azenis would knock a second or two off my times... especially if I get the hang of this new suspension of mine. You know I realized that I should have had my tire pressure back to 35 at the last event since Im not rockin and rolling anymore. Anyway Im looking forward to the drive tomorrow!

Did santa bring your SE-R anything?

Very cool, That is a very good price on the ECU without a core no less.
Well, nothing real exciting recently. Walbro 255lp fuel pump, new spark plugs, new Deck and rear speakers (for the grid of course), a new battery kinda like your BATCAP 10.3lb's, new RSTB is on it's way, and working on a custom battery relocation setup.
Still need to install the ES bushing and motor mount kit, as well as the new clutch and lightened flywheel. But I have been working too damn much lately.

These Azenis Sports

Probably one of the top 3 tires for Street tire classes in autoX. If you consider price into it all the Azenis are easily the best, as they are about $40-$50 cheaper apiece than the nearest competitor.
