Canadian Dealers - Ontario

I'm looking for a new GLE (my fourth Max since '91) and am searching for an Ontario,CN dealer who has some experience selling the Maxima to US customers for export to the states (in my case, Michigan). The current exchange rate is too good to ignore and Michigan dealers keep a spartan inventory which makes dealing difficult (They seem annoyed by my request for a fully loaded 2001 GLE in Pearlescent White without a spoiler - apparently an oddity in SE Michigan).

The CN dealers I've telephoned have the car but don't seem very enthusiastic about the sale and are foggy about the export process. I'm also advised that the Canadian GLE only comes fully equipped (which is great), and appears to have more standard equipment (e.g. engine heater) than the US model, but the sales staff isn't very informative and I'd like to know if other differences exist.

Does anybody know a knowledgeable and enthusiastic dealer in Ontario located along the 401?

Try this place.....

I'm not sure how far along the 401 you want to travel but you can try 401-Dixie Nissan in Mississauga, Ontario. I believe they are the largest volume Nissan dealer in Canada and may have some experience shipping to the U.S. The number is (905) 238-5500. Otherwise you might want to try a dealership closer to the border.

Go to Edmunds.com and find the general Maxima conference and post the question there. There is a guy who has been helping people get Maximas and Pathfinders in Canada for thousands less than in the US. Canadian models typically have more standard items than US models. Others on the topic have backed up his claims. He knows what to do and is happy to supply the info.
Good luck

Canadian dealers

I purchased by 2000 Maxima from South London Nissan in London Ontario (519-685-5497). They own several other dealership in other cities and have a good selection of maximas. London is approx. 100km from Port Huron Michigan or 200km from Detroit.

BTW, let them know you're American and would like to speak to the manager. That should do the trick.
