Legend Nissan Experiences?

I bought my car in April from Legend Nissan of Syosset. Previously they were Oyster Bay Nissan. Not sure why the name change. Maybe a bad reputation, or just marketing at work. Buying the car was a very straightforward process, but the service center seems to be a different story. I've heard people waiting with me complaining about things that keep on breaking. Not sure how much this is Nissan NA, the individuals with the problems or that particular service center. You can't make everyone happy, but still... Their prices were lower than Habberstad at the sales end, but the service seems to be lacking.

Compared to Habberstad, which is closer to me, they seem less friendly and somewhat arrogant. I didn't feel like they really valued me as a customer. I went there a few times right after speaking on the phone on the basis that I would be helped once I arrived. Then once I got there they didn't have the part, or stated that they couldn't help me that day. Nevermind that it was only about 2 hours after they opened and I was also willing to leave the car there for a few hours. I got a new fuel tank installed by them which has and probably won't give me any problems. I still wonder why a car that wasn't even driven for a month after their mechanics checked it out needed a new fuel tank, but that's another story.

Has anyone else on the org had good experiences with Legend? I bought my car there and would like to keep that loyalty aspect, but my 4 or 5 experiences with them over such a short period has left a sour taste in my mouth...

just a FYI, its unpractical and unnecessary to stock EVERY part for EVERY nissan made. most of the time parts have to be ordered, and come from a parts distribution center. usually, if under warranty, the parts will be overnighted if theyre available. since an advisor cant diagnose your car over the phone, the tech needs to diag it, and THEN order the part.

as for the fuel tank issue, are you suggesting that a tech should have forseen your fuel tank failure?

another note, when you set an appointment ask how long it will be before your car gets looked at, not 'how long before someone helps you'. someone helong you would simply be the advisor witing up the ticket. then youd have to wait for an available tech and then theyd have to look at your car, get parts, and then either fix the car or figure out if you want to leave the car at the dealer. remember, "how long before my car gets looked at?"

when you go to a dealer, you stand in line. even though theres not a tangible 'line', you still have to wait for a tech to finish what hes working on, clear his lift and do paperwork before he goes to get your car.

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't had a whole lot of experience going to a dealership. With my previous car, I would just take it to the garage in the morning, come back before they closed and call it a day. Never did I really wait there for the car to be ready. Kinda dusty / dirty place too, not exactly my preferred choice, ya know...

absolutely.

next time try a night drop. or come in at closing and drop it for the next day. if its practical. usually if you can find a ride to work/wherever, theyll come pick you up when your car is done.

if you come in for a major service, they should either give you a shuttle ride where you need to go, and pick you up, or in some cases provide a rental for you. if you were to go in for say... a 30K, you should be able to get a rental without much haggling at all
