Steve refunded my money and was very sorry how messed up they are with their move. I still want to buy their cat-back once they get their shti together.

I ordered my intake from this place too about 3 weeks ago, and I only live in Ct.-there located in southern Mass. I almost would like to find the exact location where they are and friggin take a ride up there to confront them face to face. I've e-mailed both steve and scott numerous times, and even called, no reponses ever from anybody. And honestly, i don't want to dispute it with paypal either, b/c i want this intake badly...i can't find anyone else that makes midpipes for 2002 maximas, if not i would just buy the midpipe and buy my own apexi intake filter. I'm sure it would be just as loud.I should of researched these forums b4 i bought from these crooks.

Whoa-actually never mind....Berk Technologies seems to make an intake kit for my maxima that seems identical to Frankencar's...even comes with the apexi cone just like frankencars.

I'm off-topic here, but would you guys think that the berk would be just as loud as the frankencar intake? i see absolutely no difference in the pics i seen. I would post this as a new thread but i'm disabled from starting new threads for some reason.

Man,.... I should have come here before I ordered from those guys....

I ordered an intake on 4/7 and have yet to receive anything. Not only have I yet to receive the intake, but also any type of communication from them.

I have since filed a dispute with PayPal, as this is becoming ridiculous.

We'll see how this one turns out.....

Thing is - I was thouroughly prepared to purchase an exhaust system from them right after I received the intake.

I hope anyone looking to purchase from Frankencar will read this whole thread and educate themselves as to what has happened to others, and what they might expect to happen to them.

Okay I am getting really P'ed off at Frankencar...Its been 2 and a half months and I've recieved nothing from them yet. Does anybody know where these Fnckers are??? I ordered an intake the beginning of March and a week later from that I was told they were being powder coated and ready to be shipped out. From there a month later I'm told they were in progress of moving the shop. Plus on top of calling and no answers. Paypal isnt helping at all. Anybody else having problems with them???

There is a history with Frankencar. Their customer service is inconsistent at best. Sometimes they respond and sometimes they don't. I ordered my intake a few years ago on a GD and got it in a few weeks. I was going to buy their catback and could get no response to my inquiries(multiple phone calls) so I didn't order. Got Cattman b-pipe and will probably order Cattman rear section later. I've just heard too many horror stories about Frankencar. BTW, I really like their intake and their cattback looks nice, also.

Berk is virtually the same as Frankencar and better customer service. I would have gotten the Berk if they would have been available. Although, I am satisfied with my Frankencar.

Dude i'm cancelling my order with frankencar tonight.....I've found that Berk Technologies has the exact IDENTICAL intake, offered WITH the Apexi Filter as well. And I e-mailed Berk last night and got a response by this morning. That's the way a business should be, not ignoring your customers e-mails and phones calls.

I suggest you do the same. I just hope the Berk technologies intake is as loud as the frankencar one, but i don't see why it shouldn't...there completely identical when comparing pics.

Screw Them

I'm filing a refund dispute with Frankencar....I'm going with Berk Technologies for my 2002 max. After waiting for my intake nearly a month(never mind months), and about 10 phone calls and 20 e-mails i've had it. I'll consider this as a lesson learned in "research b4 u buy).

I think its best to avoid Frankencar all together. I dont care if they did this as a side-gig or fulltime. Waiting at least a month for a damn intake or any other item is ludacris.

AVOID....

I just swapped the Frankencar I bought 2 years ago for a new Berk. Exact same install. The Berk midpipe is lighter, but stronger. The Frankencar midpipe had to be repaired during the install - the 2 small stalks that the vacuum lines attach to both snapped off with almost zero effort.

Noise level is about the same - at least to my ear. Then again, I can't hear the intake very often; at least, not since the Cattman stuff was installed.

Funny, I don't recall saying it was better. They are essentially identical in design, and close enough in materials and workmanship that they're pretty much the same.

However, if we're talking about the level of customer service, Berk kicks Frankencar's ***. I'm *still* waiting for a response to telephone and e-mail messages I placed back in October asking info on their cat-back. To be honest, I don't know why anyone would buy a thing from them at this point.

According to PayPal, you can file a claim within 45 days of the purchase. If it's been longer than 45 days and you used a credit card to fund the PayPal account, you'd have to dispute the charge with the credit card company instead.

If it has a Visa or MC logo on it, and you put it through their order system like a CC, then you can dispute it like a CC.

Yeah, looks like I should have read this as well. I have only been waiting 2 weeks, but it doesn't look good as I can't get them to respond to anything either.

wow, a "b1tch about frankencar" thread....how original.

Don't you people ever browse or search the forums for "similar threads" before you post a new one???

I suggest that one of the Moderators post a sticky explaining their situation due to the move, and how they are not a "full-time" shop as some people seem to think, but instead a bunch of guys who make good parts when they can find some free time.

Just for the record, I received my orders from them in less than a week each time, and have never had any trouble contacting Steve or any of the other staff.

you guys must not know the "Frankencar Rule" yet: they will only sell to people they like (like me)......and YOU'RE not one of them

now I need to go make this same post on the 6 other FC threads on the front page today.

newbies

wow, a "b1tch about frankencar" thread....how original.

good things come to those who wait.....that's why i'vehad 6 people pm me with offers for my Frankencar catback (which, i might add, has never been for sale).

my suggestion: call each of the numbers on the website, if there is no answer leave a POLITE message asking about "ordering an intake" and a callback number.

DON'T call and leave a b1tchy message saying "I want my intake NOW" or "I want my money back" or "i'm gonna kick your ***" or whatever. I KNOW for a fact that some people have done that, and then they wonder why they don't get a response.

A little bit of patience and politeness will get you a long way....

As for current delays, FC was moving their shop and the deal fell through, apparently - so they can't make any new product right now. This happens ALOT in the aftermarket-parts business, especially to a low-volume vendor like frankencar.

As to ordering parts...always do it OVER THE PHONE, not online. Talking to a real person generally assures that you will know what is going on with product delays, etc....Steve and his guys are always nice and will always refund your money or answer questions if needed. I've talked to them 4-5 times in the last few years and have never had any trouble contacting them.

just my 2 cents though.

don't be concerned. they are VERY slow at getting things done, but they are good guys and not trying to scam you.

The phone is disconnected because they are in the process of moving to a new shop. Be patient and leave a polite message, and i'm sure they'll get back to you in the near future.

I know I'm a "newbie" and all, but it's hard to decide which of the "b1tch about Frankencar" threads to choose - seeing that there are so many of them....

Why are there so many of them again?

I have been nothing BUT patient with Frankencar. Sorry, but moving, or delays in delivery from their suppliers or powdercoaters, or whatever their excuse might be for not delivering the piece I ordered is no excuse for not communicating with me at all about it.

They are probably great guys when they decide to communicate, but until then, they aren't.......

If you're moving and can't deliver products that people order, close your online store until you can - PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Don't accept money for something you knowingly cannot deliver in a reasonable amount of time. I'm sure anyone looking to purchase an item would then be a little more understanding and they could at least salvage what's left of their reputation.

By the way - I received my refund from them today after opening a dispute with PayPal........ There's no way in he11 that I was going to let that 45 day limit on the ability to file a dispute slip by. Would you? Not having ordered from them before and then seeing all the problems they're having?

To think that ONE simple email from them to everyone who's order has been delayed would save so much wasted time. I would have much rather known that my item was delayed, rather than WASTING my time sending multiple emails, trying to call, and finally wasting PayPal's time dealing with a seller who can't deliver.

I don't understand how anyone can justify that what they are doing to all these people is acceptable.....

Anyway.... case closed for me.
