Help- Removing paint shop over spray

Hi,

I just got my car back from the body shop Wednesday and what I thought to be water spots on my paint were paint spots. I didn't think that they were paint until I got the car home and tried to rub one of the spots with my finger. Much to my dismay it didn't rub away at all. So tonight I tried some Griot's Garage paint clay and cleaner. The spots I tried it on disappeared except a few spots left behind a "shadow" of themselves. Is there any way to get this defect out of the paint? Tomorrow im gonna wash the car down, clay bar, hand polish, and hand wax the paint to see what happens. Is there anything im missing?

Also I wan't to complain to the body shop but there sort of friends of mine. They let me buy most of the parts I needed to fix my car up and they saved me alot of money. Im thinking if I can't get these spots out I will say something to them. Oh and if your wondering they didn't purposely paint or touch up any of my car's paint. The repairs were all internal, stemming from an accident the previous owner got into and didn't repair properly (and lied about it when he sold it to me).

I would bet the remaining shadow spots should go away after you hand polish.

I had some overspray on my car after it came back to me from the body shop. I said something to them and they corrected it. If it's not too bad and you have success without too much work, go for it. Otherwise, I would probably mention it to them in a nice way and see if they can help you out. Just my .02 ...

Clay Magic's red clay or Meguiar's Overspray Clay should do the trick.
Warning: Both are more aggressive than the standard clay bar. Be very careful when using them.

Update:

Most of the paint spots I was able to remove with the clay bar and hand polishing. But a few pesky shadow spots remain. There not to noticeable unless you look really well and if someone looks that close they can see alot of other blemishes in the paint. If someone lets me borrow there Porter Cable orbital buffer I will attempt to get all those spots out once and for all, but for now im gonna live with it.

Also I should take a picture of the hood and passenger side fender for some laughs. You can see how bad the swirls marks are on the fender cause I didn't polish it. But on the hood which had overspray I used Mequiars polish and then used Mequiars clear coat wax, big difference.

Glad to hear that the shadow spots are less noticeable. Another application of the polish may take them away more.

I've got a PC you'd be welcome to use, but you'd have a long drive from Mass!
